FILD... Scary Experience... REM While Awake?!

OK, had I read the FILd tutorial I would have seen the part where it talks about the eye movement and actually remember that tends to happen. Well, imagine my surprise when I feel to a half-sleep state so fast that I kinda surprised myself.

Then the waking REM, which is what it felt like. OK at first I was slightly disoriented but decided to go with it. Then as it grew in intensity, I got worried because my eyes were freaking out without my control. Eventually, it just got too scary and I aborted. But see the thing is that since then, two days ago, it feels like if I keep my eyes closed for too long they'll start fritzing. Today, I've been more willing to let it happen but it's quite a startler. Eh.

Eh, I don't know about that. Rapid twitching of the eyeballs kinda creeps me out. That's supposed to happen in sleep, not waking time. It's just too weird for me.

Thats what the FILDing and WILDing is all about though. Staying concious through all these weird things that happen when you are normally asleep.

Just think about it, "ooh my eyeballs are moving fast!!!" Its really no big deal =P

I never had any of those feelings while trying to FILD. I just went straight a dream after like a second of moving my fingers.

I dont have much success with FILD. Just a normal WILD seems to give me the best results.

i think that FILD'ing is the only method for me so far that has worked...

i get a very strong sensation that my whole body is spazing out but i get too excited cause i realize whats happeneing that i end up losing it and coming back to my normal state... grrr!

but no i dont find it disturbing at all, i just know its something i can control
Check out my new art post

Well actually I did feel a transition from waking to dreaming state, it wasn't all that scary though. I just heard a real loud sound that sounds like electricity going past my ear or something and then I saw flashes.

In all of my exp... This has never happened...
My suggestion? I say speed up the process. What I mean is your prob in the dream lucid longer than YOU should be. In other words lets say your there doing FILD and you get lucid but you dont notice so you finally realize your lucid but weird stuff happens. It only takes 30secs to a min to enter lucid, so just RC a tiny faster than normal and post back if it worked

It's interesting to note that I've had a change of heart. I actually tried to FILD last night and had I not been slightly distracted by the sensation of spinning ("I'm not spinning, I wish the feeling would stop!") and the feeling that my eye muscles were getting a little fatigued from REM, it would have worked.

Reply to lonestarx: I haven't been lucid in a week. At least none that I recall. And does it really go that fast? A minute at most for the dream to get formulated and implemented?

Another odd thing, though I doubt it's really of importance. While in a half-sleep stage, I thought of a Dream Guide (I am searching for mine) and I saw eyes and a nose appear in the blackness of my closed eyes. Now granted, it wasn't vivid because it was like a white outline. I just thought it odd.

Yes, The transition is so smooth!- thats what I was trying to say- either your doing something wrong or not doing it right at all. Think of it as this: you heard of some people who can instant WILD ? well FILD is a instant WILD. Once you keep that part of your brain awake- the dream switch of your brain turns ON and since you *think your awake* but really your dreaming and since YOU believe your in your bed moving your fingers- the dreamscape forms into YOUR ROOM! LOL I should write a tut..

I think the important thing to do in a FILD or WILD is not pay attention to your physical body. If you have not lost touch or can't ignore the feelings of your body either rapidly moving your eyes or an increased heart rate, then it is going to be difficult to fall asleep.

I'm not sure that the eye moving is "true" REM. I know what you're talking about and I heard that it is caused by too much bright lights prior to trying to WILD. (Like from TV or computers) and can be solved by simply sitting in the dark for ~10 min and letting your eyes rest. It helped me

One time i was trying to WILD on an airplane, and one of the times didn't work. So i sat up and couldn't move my arms. I wasn't lying on them weird or anything just sitting; and an hour trying to WILD and my arms are completly numb. Does anyone have an explanation?
