      woohoo! success!

i got into this about a year and a half ago, did it for a few months, then kinda quit for a little over a year. a couple days ago i got on the forum just messin around and was lookin at "Adam's" technique (the mixture of all the methods). anyway, that night i tried that method, but i couldn't get to sleep very quickly so it messed up the timing, and that was unsuccessful, and i also remembered no dreams. the night after that i downloaded the "To Dreams Unsettled" mp3 from sleepphones.com/downloads and slept to that, but once again it took me about 45 minutes to actually fall asleep. that night i remembered one dream, but once again no lucid.

so last night, i downloaded "Newport Waves" from the same site, took some nyquil (to help me sleep) and set my mp3 player to play "Newport waves" once and then loop "To Dreams Unsettled". i fell asleep pretty quickly, woke up about 6 hours later, hopped on the computer to type up the one dream i remembered, fell back asleep, and had a normal dream which ended, and then a lucid! after only 2 nights of practice, and coming back into it with terrible recall. the lucid wasn't all that great. i didn't have much control over it and it just ended up with me having sex with someone, so it seemed kinda wasted. however, i did do some conjuring (i made a horse!) and i "teleported" myself from a store to some room, although my desired location was the beach. it still went in my book as a success.

i'm hoping that since i've made this much progress in 2 days, i'll be entering into a lot of success with my dreaming. tonight i'll be doing the same thing, and friday night when i've got more time to sleep in the morning, i'll try some DEILD.

When you say you went back to bed after writing up the dream, did you put music back on? Do you listen to them on headphones?

yes, after writing up the dreams i continued to listen to "To Dreams Unsettled" and yes i had headphones on. according to the website, the "effect" only takes place with headphones, cause it has to be directly on the left and right of your brain.

however, my headphones don't stay in my ear well, so they probably don't stay on very long after i fall asleep. i'm considering, when i've got more money to throw around, ordering the actual sleep phones, which is basically a headband that plays the sound. This way it will be far more comfortable, and it most likely wouldn't slip off during sleep. but they're 60 dollars, which is quite a lot for headphones...

Mikey, thanks for mentioning these sleep phones (I'd never heard of them)!

I just ordered them and, if you like, I'll let you know how they are (I should hopefully have them by next Saturday.)

      thanks everyone!

and clairity, that'd be great if you could tell me how they work out for you, once you get them. they look pretty cool, and every time i fall asleep with normal headphones they fall off, and i doubt the sleepphones would.

lemme know how good they are

Mikey, congratulations on your lucid dream and on having one so quickly!

You say you didn't have much control but you conjured a horse and teleported yourself somewhere which is pretty darn good!

I know you're pumped and ready for more LDs.. and may they come sooner than later!

heh how can i lose confidence with that kind of success?

besides, i just ordered a "dream pillow" (suggested from another thread in attaining lucidity) so we'll see what that does for me

it was only 11 dollars so if it doesn't help a lot, it wasn't a big loss.
