      Hard to find the "inbetween"

When I wake up after sleeping for several hours (by an alarm clock), and I want to try and WILD, SP, etc. I have trouble finding the right amount of time to stay awake. If I stay awake for too little, I fall asleep spontaneously after laying down for a while (no matter what I'm thinking about). If I stay up too long, I might as well have just gone to bed, because I'm wide awake and I lose the sleep feel. Is there anything I can do, eat, or drink that will make this easier for me?

I remember a few people mentioning coffee. Don't drink a lot though, if you drink a whole cup of coffee you'll probably be wired.

Just like with the "how much time to stay awake," you'll probably have to play around a little bit with the dosages until you find the right spot. Another think you can try is drinking some coca-cola, or any other soft drink with caffeine in it.

Just guess how much you need to keep your mind a little more awake, and then go from there. I would also suggest writing the dosage down on your dream journal, just to keep a record (I write down dosage of anything that I take before bed... vitamins, alcohol, etc).

      Good luck with your experiment.

Kay, thanks. I don't drink coffee and rarely have caffeinated sodas, but I'm sure I can find something. By the way, what do you think I should attempt once I've gotten to that stage? Sleep paralysis, VILD, DILD, etc.?

Since you're not much used to caffeine, I would say only take a couple of sips of a caffeinated soda on your first try and see how that goes. Just buy a soda bottle and it should last for a few days.

Also, I would say just try what you're most comfortable with. Whatever technique you know best and which would benefit from you having just woken up.

For me personally, I never recall having Sleep Paralysis even once, so that wouldn't work for me. FILD and WILD would be a good choice for me, even MILD while you're doing FILD/WILD could work.

As far as DILD goes, there's not really a way to try it.

It would be just a safe-net that might happen if the WILD/FILD/MILD doesn't work.
