Red face Becoming Lucid in dreams...

so guys, we all know different methods for consciously inducing dreams, like WILD and FILD etc etc but the whole "Reality Check" think i cant get. I do RC checks regularly but, nope, in dreams i just accept everything even though i have made a habit out of doing RC's, anything Lucid-dream related has not came into my head, but for the past few months its the only thing i think about when i wake up, during the day and before i go to bed.

I have noticed however that i have nearly became lucid because in a dream, for example, i noticed a friend of mine from school in a large shop, i knew it was them but their face looked different, i can even remeber thinking to myself, "thats weird, they don't normally look like that, they're acting the same but they're eyes are different" but no success at becoming lucid. I regularly have cases like this but i don't become lucid.

Apart from reading dream journals more and doing more RC's, any other tips for me because i have looked on these forums for a while now and have found no source of help.

      cheers

I can't explain much on why the RCs don't work for you. It's a very subjective thing and quite complex....what I can tell you is that when you do them in reality you won't do them in the dream, it's the reverse. So to do them in the dream.....just keep it in memory prior to sleep. Imagine a scenario that you do an RC and believe it that it's possible for you to do it the next day if you want to, in other words keep it a possibility and at the same time in thought form your doing it.

It may because you've, as you said, made a "habit" out of your reality checks. When you do them, are you being serious with yourself? Are you honestly asking yourself if you're dreaming or awake? Really try to imagine what it would be like if you were dreaming at that moment and then prove yourself wrong. If the reality check tells you that you're awake, imagine what you would do if you were dreaming.

It's good to do reality checks often, but they're pretty much useless if you don't apply them to what you're actually trying to do: become conscious in your dreams!

      Good luck!

      good answer kaeraz.

Niddiboy, there is almost a "missing link" on your path to lucidity,

      1. you check reality habitually
      2. -----
      3. you notice dreamsigns.

step 2....you have to link "questioning reality" to "checking reality". If you just do reality check, after reality check and so on....you arent establishing anything. You need to think "why would I check reality?"
"Could this really be a dream?"
      "Is this a dream?"...

DON'T answer before you do your check. your check gives your answer.

However, this is easier said than done. Because you have to ALWAYS in real life be on the look out for unusual things. And if you miss them IRL, youll miss them when dreaming.
