      This worked for me

If you find yourself in the state at night when you still know you are in bed, but not sure if you are quite sleep/dreaming or not... (happens to me all the time) perhaps you can try what I did to have my first LD.
I went to be with intent to LD and didn't think about anything else. For the longest time I was in and out of sleep, in that funny sort of conciousness, and wasn't sure if I was awake or asleep because I could feel myself in the bed still... So I decided to TAKE A STEP AND GOT OUT OF BED! and voila! I was in my dream! left my sleeping real body and started walking away in my dream body (and what a fantasic and almost mystical experience that first LD was!!!).
If you try it next time and successed, I'd like to know about your experience.

      Sweet dreams.

That is a good idea! After some practice, it should get easier and easier to tell when the time is right to "get up."

Some people wouldn't call that your "Dream Self", they would proabably say it's your astral self and what you did is different from dreaming.

Or it could just be dreaming.

Sounds like fun. I'll give it a try! I'm often in that half-awake/half-asleep state you mention.

I wish I did what you did a couple of nights ago.

I did a WILD when going to sleep and when I entered the dream I had no idea I was dreaming and I continued to WILD for around five minutes before getting caught up in the dream, lol.

All of my WILD's are similiar

When ever I WILD, I always end up out of my body, whether real or a dream, is a question I haven't fully decided yet. I have tried to astral project for several years now and it has worked for me over ten times now, I am not sure of the exact count. But I usually float out of my body, and can fly around the house. I haven't got up and walked away yet, though I have walked around after getting out. The first few times I felt sure I was leaving my body, and fear always brought me back quickly, then I began to wonder if it was just a lucid dream, and when I would get out I would tell myself I was dreaming, this helps deal with the fear, I would look around for something to verify latter, to see if I was really out of my body or not. However, I did see things that were not there when I woke up so that makes me think they were possibly lucid dreams, although I also feel it could be astral projection, and I was also dreaming at the same time, which would make it possible to see real and unreal things, not sure yet. Also, usually when I have a DILD, after the dream ends, I will usually awaken or false awaken and have an OBE type experience.
