      Forgetting you are dreaming

Does this happen to anyone else?

The only time I remember being lucid I forgot I was dreaming, I didn't mind because I did make the dream better anyway but does this happen to anyone else?

And how does one avoid it?

Yeah, I have been lucid and controlling the dream, then slipped back into a normal dream before.
And experience it as a place to visit and play with reality.

Yeah, it used to happen to me often too. One thing I started to do that was very effective in solving this. Is start shouting this is a dream as loud as I can. This not only kept me Lucid, but also caused some very strange and interesting effects on the environment. You could also just keep saying this is a dream quietly to yourself over and over. doing this, you will start to forget less and less. Most of the time now though, I just do several reality checks as needed to keep me Lucid. Like pinching my nose and breathing, and pushing my finger through my hand.

They call this losing lucidity. I seem to remember it being somewhat of an issue when I was new to being lucid, but as we speak it hasn't happened to me in ages. Although waking up is still an issue. It's possible that with experience you will find that this happens to you less and less. Or that could just be me.

I only have really had one, maybe two so I assume it is normal.

I'm pretty new to LDing but most of the time I LD, I always forget I'm in a dream partway through. Like once I decided to try spinning to teleport, and it worked but then I forgot I was in a dream. Another time I had just realized I was in a dream and then I instantly forgot lol.

Yeah I used to get this alot too and sometimes I still do. I used to repeat 'This is a dream' over and over a while ago for a bit but even then I sometimes lost lucidity if a DC pulled my attention away by butting in. These days I just remember... most of the time anyway
