      WBTB does not work..Any tips?

Well I went to sleep at about 2:45 am last night and I had my mother wake me up at 6 30 (the wierd thing is she didnt wake me up she said,I just kind of popped up,Im good at that ) And I Stayed up for about 60 minutes till 7 30...I layed down...And nothing...I was laying down for a good 10 minutes..And nothing happened...Oh and BTW I went to sleep at about 11:45 that night, woke up at 1:00 am, than I stayed up until 2:00 am than woke up at 6:30 am...I had nothing happen, none of thees "colors" no shaking or vibrations...Am I doing something wrong? Is there any easier ways to get a lucid dream?

BTW I realized that I had little sleep periods from 730..But no dreams..No colors no nothing...And now My friend just came over and woke me up and I cant get back to sleep cause the sun is out...I never could sleep when the sun was out...Good thing though it might rain today

Well it sounds like you're giving up rather quick. 10 minutes??? Its rare for it to just happen within 10 minutes on a first attempt. And it sounds to me like you're trying to specifically do a WILD, which is much harder to do than other forms of WBTB(of ocurse much cooler too 8) ). Id give it several more tries before giving up on it. What did you do while you were awake for 60 minutes? I think its a really good idea to write down your previous dreams the second you wake up, and then spend the rest of the time doing reality checks and thinking about lucid dreaming in general. If you wake up after only 4 hours, I think its much better to stay awake for 90 minutes. Id say 90 is best if you wake up after 5 too, but some may say differently. One thing I never do is stay awake for only 30 minutes. The success rate is very low for me. My dream recall will be high, but other than that.

Even though I didn't have any dreams to write down last night, after a 90 WBTB combined with this : http://dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?...ighlight=#85414
I finally had my first real LD!

Just stay focused, don't give up or be discouraged, and practice RC/MILD consistently. I don't know if it was just my time (yours will come to, mine took around 3 months) or the use of this new sub conscious technique that helped me break through. Next time instead of sitting on my ass I'm going to get up right away and start moving! My intent was also stronger than ever last night.

added more detail about my 1st LD here:

Thats awesome. Im gonna try naming my subconcious. But I cant think of a name...I bet it would help a lot, especially if doing the WBTB since your mind is so focused on doing it.

I actually had my first WILD some days ago with WBTB technique. It really sets the right conditions for a LD.

Ok heres EXACTLY what I did that night and this morning..

1.Stayed up all day last night reading on this forum random stuff to try to help me..

2.That night at about 11:00 pm I got on the couch (where I sleep, quite comfortable) and watched my brother play counter strike for a while (Xbox version)

3.At 11:15 started to try to go to sleep,Closed my eyes, waited for the colors and the muscle "electricity". I just sat there thinking about how I WILL have a Lucid dream and I WILL remember it.

4.At about 11:45 I fell asleep.....No lights no nothing just passing out...

5.At about 1:00 am I woke up to my brother STILL playing counter strike...I got up and looked on the forum for a bit...Than lay back in bed.

5.At about 2:00 Wrote a note on the table to my mother saying to wake me up at 6:00 am or 6:30 am THE LATEST...I was sitting there on the couch focusing on my breathing and waiting for the streaks of light. Many disturbances including my dumb brother being loud and my cat being in heat...That kept me up until about 2:45...mabey 3:00...

6.Fell asleep..I dont know when But I did...I Jumped up at EXACTLY 6:00 am..I thanked my mother who was making coffe and she said she didnt wake me up...I did it myself I have a perfect internal clock.... I got up went to the computer and started browsing the forum while watching the nightmare before christmas on HBO (great movie right?) I read that it is good to have some chocolate and soda so I had a peice of a bad of chocolate (Like a square off a hersheys bar) and waited until my 60 minutes was over)

7.The sun began to come out at about 7:30 So I hopped into bed. And I lay there, trying to relax and think about riding a bike.Details and all...The handle bars the crickets chirping ect..Somewhere along the line I passed out again..No colors...no muscle movement...I woke up to my friend walking in the door...He thought I looked at him though the window (which means come in)...This was at 1:00.. pm....No dreams or anything..At all....What Am I doing wrong..

Instead of just lying in bed, watching TV, or watching your brother play video games, really try to focus on LD related things the whole time. Don't stress about it. You can look over your dream journal if you have one, or even just type/write up some random stuff pertaining to dreaming or how much you want to have an LD or what you're going to do in order to have an LD. Try to find other dream sites. That's just my advice.

I did..ALLL day..I sat there looking at this site and others about lucid dreaming...I watched my bro play video games cause I was waiting for the right time to go to sleep...And while I was watching Tv I was on this site looking over everything....That brings up a good question,If I want to do the WBTB thing,Is it ok if I Go to sleep lets say..around 1:30 am...wake up 6:45...Will I still get a lucid dream or should I go to sleep and wake up EXACTLY 5/6 hours later ...?
