When attempting a Wild I just fall asleep!

I've read about initiating wilds and that for it to be successful you need a mixture of relaxation but sharpness in the mind. Suggestions such as to watch the Hypnogogic but not get too involved or distracted, to not try too hard to relax but to stay concentrated on the task ahead.

However, my problem is a simple one. I can't seem to get the balance right and I always fall asleep maybe 20mins into my attempt to have a WILD! Please help!

Strange, when I try WILD, I can't sleep.

well if you want you can extend your WBTB time. 20 minutes into the attempt though seems like it is long enough. i think you need to work on focusing. it is really hard to get the balance of mind awake/body asleep. you have to try hard to focus but not focus too hard. read that like 3 times so you get what i am saying. you are not supposed to concentrate on the HI too much, but you have to maintain focus on it while conscious (which is very hard because it is against what your body tells you to do). just keep at it.

Your to sleepy to do it.. You have to be parcially awake.. suggest a WBTB.. if it doesnt work just consontrait hard and keep your mind focused on what you want.. DIcaplin!

Ok guys, I took on your suggestions and they helped a little. I manged a WID, but not a WILD xD! On waking at 4:00am I stayed awake for 20 minutes doing the usual (going to the toilet, getting a sip of water, sitting in my bed thinking about what I wanted to lucid dream about) then I prepared for the Wild. I used the counting technique, got to about 100 then decided on changing positions as I wasn't feeling very comfortable. Got to about 50 this time 150 the next time, experienced SP but then fell asleep at some time and woke up at about 5:35.

However, my dream was a lot more vivid than ever before, I remember at one point during it thinking to myself "Wow this feels real" without actually twigging that I was dreaming. The problem when I'm counting is that I my imagination still runs wild within the restraints and limitations of relaxing. For example, when I'm counting I'm hearing somebody else's voice counting instead of mine, or echoing what I've said. Concentrating specifically on just counting and nothing else is something I can't seem to do very well.
      Lucid dream count:
      3 DILD
      1 WILD
