      IMID (Ipod/mp3 induced lucid-dream)

      IMID (Ipod/mp3 induced lucid-dream)

[i]In this thread you will learn my #1 most used technique, using rhythm! This tutorial will teach you to lucid dream using a mp3 player or Ipod as your little helper.
1)Get your iPod or MP3 player loaded with songs, or enough to last you threw the night(8 hours would be enough, or a playlist on loop).
2)When going to sleep, put your headphones on/earbuds in and get to sleepin'!
3)While going to sleep, think of everything that could possibly make the songs play, that way in your dream if you don't see one of these objects, or maybe you see something(like a tree)making the noise you will realize your dreaming.
4)After you are in your dream you should hear the music. You should realize that it's not coming from anywhere but your own mind and become lucid! that's all there is to it!

      notes:
you could try recording yourself (if you have a mic) saying "you are dreaming", it might help, Although I've never tried it.
If you do see something that seems logical making that noise, try to go up and inspect it, maybe like throw it at a moving car. If it busts and the music is still playing there you go!
This works for me almost every time, and I can't guarantee that it will do the same for you, we are all different!

There is a good MP3 in the lucid aids forum for this, I think it's called Lucid Remix.

well, those are indeed good ideas, making a song say you are lucid dreaming, and it is probably better than my idea.
but, I think it would be easier hearing your own voice, and not feeling yourself speak it.
that way your like, WTF? I just said something without opening your mouth.
the other ones have other voices in it.
not talking down about them either, because everyone has different minds!

I seriously think this will work well. My only concern is that I'll have to endure the entire dream while listening to music paly in the background. If I'm trying to have sex or what have you I don't want to be hearing music voer the top.

My subconcious might be able to block it out. I'll have to try tonight. I'll let you know if it works for me!

usually my subconcious blocks it out after I realize I'm lucid.

Hmm this sounds like a great idea in theory, but I know I would find it very hard to get to sleep with earphones in and with music playing. Maybe I'll give it a go with some soft music... Keane or something should do the trick .

Oh, and what kind of volume do you listen to it at? like very quiet, or quarter volume? I'm guessing you don't want it blaring in your ears at full volume all night...

It was hard getting comfortable wearing headphones. I played the music and fell asleep, but I never heard the music in my dream. I "knew" I was dreaming but had no control and it wasn't really "me" that was controlling myself. For some reason, I did dumb reality check of trying to move things with my mind. I still knew it was a dream, just had no control. Interesting technique though.

Hmh, good idea. Though, it wont work with me. I am a metal fan and I dont want to get dreams about demons and monsters.

Actually I've found that listening to good songs is a good way of proficiently relaxing yourself. Body and mind.

Normally I can't fall asleep to music though. I've got some Hemi-sync Lucid induction .mp3's that are nice (Though I haven't become lucid as a result of them quite yet).

I have the problem that if I fall asleep with earphones, as soon as the music starts playing, I awaken. I think I may have the music too loud, but does anyone else have this problem?

Hahahaha, I should get one song and have it repeat and repeat over and over for the whole night. I don't know why, but I'd love to be in that He Said She Said music video by Ashley Tisdale

Here is the problem i find with this idea. Yes it might work for you, but when you're dreaming its hard to get into the habit of analyzing everything. Like your idea of throwing whatever object at a car or something like that. Easier said than done. The problem there is that when we dream, we don't know it, so we act as if we were in our waking life. Now me, I would never throw a radio at a moving car to reality check, so why would i do something crazy like that in my dreams? I think people should get more into the old fashioned rc's like flipping light switches and pluging your nose. Its easier and more likely to happen in your dreams than what you have suggested. The way i see it, realization of being in a dream will come from habitual behavioral patters like habitually rc'ing. If you get into this constant manner in your waking life, your more likely to do so in your dreams.

I have NEVER been able to sleep with earbuds/headphones at night. Somewhere along the way I do some tossing and turning and wind up in a tangled mess during the night.

I HAVE left the television on while I slept and it yielded the sense of a TV playing in my dream on several occasions. I suppose this would make a good cue as well, if you condition yourself to look around for the TV. I know I have several DJ entries that state 'sensed a television playing' but I never could remember the television, only that one was playing somewhere in the dreamscape out of my attention.

I didn't think about this angle before. I'll have to make a point to experiment and become more aware of ambient external stimuli like that.

You talk to vacuum cleaners and safes, you've had apple trees growing in your living room, tigers and horses in your dining room, an elephant in your bedroom. I've seen you locked in a jail in the middle of your living room and once someone swore they saw you floating in mid-air! How do you explain that, Major Nelson!?

Now, I haven't exactly had many lucid dreams, but my best one yet was induced just like this. And it wasn't just one either, I kept falling back asleep and finding myself back where I left off. I find the music helps ground me somewhat in reality, especially if I'm drifting back and forth between sleep and waking life, like in the morning. Almost had an accidental WILD this way as well, but I got too excited and woke up.
      Ah well...
At least I got a good wine.

I've been thinking about music to induce dreams as well. I can't seem to focus otherwise...
