      News Years Resolutions boost

I have one- said to myself I'm going to really try and get into all this again, going to take notes of my dreams when I wake up and write them down, I'm going to do this and that..

So far my recall has improved. When I started out in April is was alright, then it went up to good, then very good, compared to what other people put in the dj's on here.
Then it took a tumble and (skipping life story) it fell flat pretty much.

Since the new year it been getting better and up to my best.
But my best beforehand was never enough to get a lucid dream. I know my count says 4 but those were extremely short little delusions I had and I only count them to make me feel better.

Is there anything I could do to get me lucid dreaming? Something I can just get into and do while I'm still revved up on the new success of my dream recall coming back?

Everything else I tried just never worked and I fell out of it after a month.

Best way I found to avoid "loosing motivation" goes into some factors which were adviced by sageous:

      - Use an alarm clock or anything that will make you remember to perform reality checks/mantras/awareness whether you want it or not. This may seem counter-productive, since you're not remembering them by yourself, but it will keep your brain focused. After some time you will start randomly asking "when's the next alarm popping?" or being already aware before it actually rings.

      - Keep going to bed highly motivated. Non-lucid dreaming motivated, I've read a guy's experience in a marathon which he made WITHOUT any physic preparation. All he did was sharing his goals, keeping track of them, and hearing highly motivated music every day for 10minutes. The trick is the mindset!

      - Habits habits and more habits. Take half hour before bed to meditate, then make sure you keep the habit. Choose your 2 best dreamsigns and actively search for them during the day. In short, just flood your routine with lucid dreaming, as if you were someone who has to take medication several times a day that is essencial for keeping a good health.

Hope this helped, imo each person has his/her way to keep themselves motivated, you just have to make sure you're goal of lucid dreaming also connects to your deep desires (link it with rewards, share it with friends, etc etc).

Nice advice! My dreamsigns are pretty broad and change depending on things. Like I either dream of my school or about different aspects to the game I'm currently playing (right now, Skyrim, so yeah some pretty great dreams). I will try it out though.

I could use an alarm clock, but only for three more days, after then I'm in school. I'm out of school for about 6-8 hours, so is that an alright amount of time to be using an alarm clock? (I get home at 4 and go to sleep at 10-11pm)

Motivation has been a problem before, but that only after I was demotivated after many a failure for methods to work, even after weeks and months of trying.

What alarm times should I set my phone for?

Ironically my new years resolution is to not completely fixate on LDing until I get my exam at the end of January out of the way. This is what I would do in your position: Throughout the day reality check and be really skeptical, really question everything around you. After RCing really strongly visualise yourself in Skyrim, dreaming, knowing you're dreaming, doing all the things you want to do in your next lucid dream. That night set your alarm for between 5.5-7 hours after you fall asleep, when it goes off don't WBTB, just switch off the alarm and repeat your visualisation. Fall asleep and lucid dream. This is what I do to break extended dry spells now

If you have an LD, awesome! If you don't then you're one step closer, MILD everyday and believe in yourself!

Always, no sometimes think it's me,
But you know I know when it's a dream
      I think I know I mean a yes
      But it's all wrong
That is I think I disagree

Ok, will do. I used to set my alarm for WBTB or just waking up to fall back asleep at 4 hours or 6 hours after I fell asleep- this never really worked so you might be right with your times.
