      Exclamation DEILD Troubles!

Ok I've managed to induce 3 lucid dreams so far while I was in a dream. And that led me to try DEILD, right after I awoken from a dream. SO!

Every time I wake up from a dream I stay perfectly still and just relax my mind and think "I'm going to slip back into that dream". Within seconds I start to feel these strong tingling sensations across my body and I feel a bit floaty. Then after a few seconds of that it fades away and I'm just still awake... And the whole purpose of the DEILD attempt is wasted...

Do you guys have any pointers, or know what I'm doing wrong? Perhaps I should start a dream journal again? Because I haven't done that since the last 3 LD's I've had... Hmm...

Keeping a dream journal is always a good idea!

From what I can see in your post, you are doing everything right. Is your mind relaxed even as you just snap out of it? If you get excited etc. it can stop you from falling asleep.

Another approach you can try along with what you already are doing, is to visualise what you want to dream, like the scene that you were at when you woke up. You can also visualise yourself doing something, like walking, or looking at your hands (which I have great success with when doing WILDs). If the visualisation technique works, you will probably experience the dream forming a bit slowly and almost seamlessly around you.

      Good luck!

      I second Luminous' advice.

Another thing you can try: once you get the tingly sensations start to imagine a rocking feeling, side to side. Just imagine it. Let it get stronger and stronger. While you rock you can imagine a scene. Just let the rocking go on for several minutes. After about 5 minutes (seems like five minutes) of STRONG rocking sensations if your dream hasn't started try to roll off your bed and into the dream.

When I get stuck at the HI stage (tingles) I use this and it works for me every time. I always think I've rolled off of my bed and landed on the floor, until I get up and open my bedroom door and discover I'm dreaming. No matter how many times I've used this I always believe I've just fallen out of bed like a fool until I open the door. I haven't yet actually fallen out of bed in waking life doing this.

Good luck! Oh, and if you sleep on the top bunk of bunk beds I wouldn't recomend this

      Keep trying.
About 20 minutes ago, I had my first real lucid dream through DEILD.
And I read about the method last night.
I ended up moving/rolling over several times, and once I laid perfectly still, but nothing happened.
The one which actually made me lucid involved a false awakening, so if you suspect that your DEILD failed, do a quick RC, then head right back to bed if it doesn't fail.

ok, you can try all these ideas all that these guys are throwing at you, but truth is u will probably be so anxious with all this advice given to you by the time you go to bed that u will not be able to get to sp let alone fall asleep. just MILD, tell yourself what u wanna do, really instill it. and do what u normally do to go sleep. then u will probably find urself concious in the middle of sp or wake into your dream. thats how its been for me. thinking about it to much will keep u up. just fogetaboutit

It's always possible that when these sensations fade away, you have induced a false awakening and just don't realize.
Always combine DEILD with a reality check, I should add this to the main DEILD thread.

That's a great idea -- FA's are extremely common with DEILD.

You must do, or do not. There is no try. That is why you fail.
