The WILD method is most effective after waking up after 4 or 5 hours of sleep. With Practice, you can enter SP after only a matter of minutes... I've done it in around.. 3 minutes before. |

Lately i started to try WILD as soon as i went to bed, after laying there for a long time i noticed my legs start to feel odd, i knew i was close to SP but the problem is, i always get a itch on my face or leg which i need to scratch and the urge to move is uncontrolable. I then thought this is to hard so i tryed to intergrate it with the WBTB method the probelm with this is when i wake up my mind is all fuzzy and i can't concentrate at what im trying to acheive, and if i stay awake for to long i can't fall asleep again... |

REALITY CHECK
I'm not entirely sure about the jump, but it could be that you neglected the visualizations and were surprised by one. When I start falling asleep in class, I often jerk back awake if something flys at me in a semi-dream state. Anyway, the key to WILD is A) finding the balance between sleepiness and alertness so that you can stay focused but fall asleep. and B) resisting the urge to move. When going to sleep, your mind falls asleep first and your body second. The intense urge to itch or move is a test your body uses to see if the mind is still awake. If you respond, you delay the whole process, but if you resist, the body will begin to shut down and SP will start soon. Glad to help. :-) |

i agree with that completely. but i have something to add about the jump. this was most likely because you let your mind wander and it started to daydream kinda. this is usually what happens when that happens to me. all of a sudden i like remember something as if it was a tiny bit of a dream and the event that i remember causes me to try to move my astral body, but since my RL body wasnt asleep all the way, I really did move myself out of SP. this happened last night as that random event i daydreamed about was a linedrive hit right at me that i was trying to dodge... =p |

Thanks for the replies, i also get a itch at the end of my nose which is agony not to scratch. My mind is saying "It would feel so good to scratch" Which is annoying! |

haha well my best advice for the incomprehensable urge to itch is to try not to think about it at all and it will vanish. or sometimes ill think in my mind- hey! my mind is making an itch to test if im still awake. im gunna trick it into thinkin im sleepin by NOT itchin it! - bam. motivation not to scratch. =p |

sometimes it takes a while to figure out exacly how long you should stay awake before trying WILD. I haven't heard of many people having much luck with WILDing before they even fall asleep, but I'm sure after using trial and error you'll eventually get how long you should stay up. Usually all I have to do is get up to use the bathroom and that's good enough for me. |
