I need help with sp and WBTB

Lately i started to try WILD as soon as i went to bed, after laying there for a long time i noticed my legs start to feel odd, i knew i was close to SP but the problem is, i always get a itch on my face or leg which i need to scratch and the urge to move is uncontrolable. I then thought this is to hard so i tryed to intergrate it with the WBTB method the probelm with this is when i wake up my mind is all fuzzy and i can't concentrate at what im trying to acheive, and if i stay awake for to long i can't fall asleep again...
Also to add the other night i was trying to WILD but all of a sudden my entire body jumped, it made my body physicly jump in the air whilst lieing down.
What could of coursed that and have you any advice....

The WILD method is most effective after waking up after 4 or 5 hours of sleep. With Practice, you can enter SP after only a matter of minutes... I've done it in around.. 3 minutes before.

The WBTB Method is kind of hard I think. Your kind of like me in the sense that staying awake too long, makes it very difficult to fall back asleep. I would suggest keeping a glass of water by your bed, and taking a drink after you wake up. That should clear your mind enough that you can begin the WBTB method and not be overly "fuzzy" or too awake.

      you are
      a) much more likely to face problems WBTBing with NO sleep.

      b) try tuning your WBTB times a bit more, but if you still fail swap WILD techniques. i.e find a guide which shows you a different way to concentrate.

      just some thoughts.

I too have been doing that straight to WILD technique.
      The face itch is universal.
Don't scratch it...its a test of the body to see if you are really awake. Same as those muscle twitches (to see if you will roll over or move).
That jolt is the switch to subconscious (like hyperdrive) and your damn bodies final test to see if you are awake.
See these as the barrier you break where you are gonna succeed !!
Pass all these tests without moving (and try not to tense...keep calm and relaxed)and you are on your way.
I love all the HI and stuff...I know I am getting closer to LDs.
Just get used to the barriers and overcome them with practice and you will eventually get it.

I'm not entirely sure about the jump, but it could be that you neglected the visualizations and were surprised by one. When I start falling asleep in class, I often jerk back awake if something flys at me in a semi-dream state. Anyway, the key to WILD is A) finding the balance between sleepiness and alertness so that you can stay focused but fall asleep. and B) resisting the urge to move. When going to sleep, your mind falls asleep first and your body second. The intense urge to itch or move is a test your body uses to see if the mind is still awake. If you respond, you delay the whole process, but if you resist, the body will begin to shut down and SP will start soon. Glad to help. :-)

i agree with that completely. but i have something to add about the jump. this was most likely because you let your mind wander and it started to daydream kinda. this is usually what happens when that happens to me. all of a sudden i like remember something as if it was a tiny bit of a dream and the event that i remember causes me to try to move my astral body, but since my RL body wasnt asleep all the way, I really did move myself out of SP. this happened last night as that random event i daydreamed about was a linedrive hit right at me that i was trying to dodge... =p

haha well my best advice for the incomprehensable urge to itch is to try not to think about it at all and it will vanish. or sometimes ill think in my mind- hey! my mind is making an itch to test if im still awake. im gunna trick it into thinkin im sleepin by NOT itchin it! - bam. motivation not to scratch. =p

sometimes it takes a while to figure out exacly how long you should stay awake before trying WILD. I haven't heard of many people having much luck with WILDing before they even fall asleep, but I'm sure after using trial and error you'll eventually get how long you should stay up. Usually all I have to do is get up to use the bathroom and that's good enough for me.

sounds like when people are sort of in between dreaming and daydreaming when their bodies aren't yet in SP. You know, how sometimes you'll dream you're jumping on a trampoline or something and then instead of your dream body trying to move, your real body sort of jerks. That just happens sometimes, I'm sure it won't affect your WILDing too much.
