      Wild Fail

I have been trying WILD a bunch over the past two weeks with no success. I've been writing in my dream journal pretty much every day and at least 2-3 dreams a day. I wake up after about 6 hours, write in my dream journal for maybe 15 minutes, drink some water then go back to bed and focus on breathing.
After about 10 minutes I will spasm a few times and sort of see white light, but after that goes on for a little still nothing really happens. Then when I try to move there is no sleep paralysis; I easily move my body. So I'm wondering are my feelings of spasms and visions of light just random or in my head or do they proceed SP. I was under the impression SP was the first step.
I think maybe I should stay awake for less time so that I am more sleepy, but I can't write in my journal in that short of a time.
      Thanks for advice.

Do you write full DJ entries during the night or just abreviated dream notes? If you want to shorten your waking time during the night try just taking short notes.

To me that sounds like HI starting up. Is is possible you've successfully WILDed, but had a false awakening (FA)? Whenever you think your WILD has failed be sure to do a few RCs. Good luck!

Also, instead of getting up and possibly ruining a successful WILD attempt, try to RC by holding your breath. That way, if you aren't dreaming yet, you might still WILD anyway

If you want to shorten the time to record dreams, I would suggest a tape recorder. Just keep it by your bed. Get up, hit record, say as much as you could about the dream, hit stop, easily done.

Yeah on that note, what is a good RC to do without moving AT ALL?

15 min for dream journal seems like a bit much. How much of your dream do you remember? Do you go down to small details, like what color your nails were or something?

You might want to try just making notes in a context where as you will remember everything around it.

      For example:

eating Banana, jungle, monkeys everywhere, for a dream where you were eating a banana in a jungle, and there were monkeys all around you.

Also, are you relaxed at all when doing the breathing? That's the key.
