      Body "Pains" in WILD

I have been trying WILD for the last 2 days now but I find it really hard to relax my mind.
I relax myself and after a while my body begins to go paralytic (as in should) but it also begins to tense up. At first I dont mind and I begin to see hypnotic imagery, so I imagine im riding a bike. But then my body gets even more tense and it begins to ache. Its like Im constantly tensing my muscles.
At times I take note of it and I realise that my back is arching slightly like Im trying to leave my bed, so I relax back down. But then I feel the ache again in my arms, which puts me off being able to concentrate and dream.

      Any advice? Is it normal?

best time for WILD is morning after youve already woken up...
you need to be in a peculiar state of sleepy alertness, if youre too awake and restless it,ll take you hours to try and you probably wont succeed...
the hypnagogic state is also a very definite experience comparable to watching moving images on a tv screen...
to get to this stage your body and mind need to be relaxed you shouldnt be in pain...
try repeating a mantra such as ; im aware im dreaming; and breathe nice and slowly, dont try and force it will happen by itself if you create the right conditions and really want to do it...

I know exactly what you mean about the "tensing" part...sometimes its really uncomfortable and I think I kinda arch my back like you do. But once you become completely relaxed which can take some time, you can't even feel your body anymore...I thought at one point I was either sinking into my bed or floating I couldn't tell either way its cool and the tensing goes away after youve reached total relaxation.

When you first lay down try focusing on each part of your body and relax them one by one. I notice some parts of my body I needed to focus more on than others. Like my face for one, unless I tried to relax it I wouldn't even notice. Legs are really easy though. I am really bad at WILDs but I been trying them so long I am really good at relaxing my body heh.

My body does paralyse but it weighs "like a ton of bricks" as you said. It feels too uncomfortable especially when my back arches. The weight makes my back ache soo much that I lose all concentration.
I have given up WILDs for the time being and just goin WBTB.

I don't think you should give up on the WILD, I only did it once but it was totally worth it. I know the paralysis thing is annoying, it took me about 20 minutes of laying there before my body went totally numb and about another half hour before the hypnogogic imagery took over and I lost all sense of my body. (it probably took so long cause I did it mid-day and wasn't totally relaxed) So if you have the patience go for it...also for you I might suggest getting a good hard back rub before you lay down...that way your back may be more relaxed and won't feel so tense as to break your concentration. Or try putting a small pillow under your back so it can't really arch?

BTW its ok for things to break your concentration and it doesn't matter what you think about as long as your thinking and not giving in to falling asleep. It's not going to happen every time...I tried to do it last night when I went to bed but my dog kept moving around the bed and disrupting me, so I gave up after about 45 minutes and just went to sleep.
