      WILD is very uneventful

ok, i know there are heaps of WILD posts, and i've read them. but i still have some questions that may or may not have been answered before, but it still need to hear the answers that are directly related to me. So, i hope i'm not annoying anyone with another WILD thread.

first, i better explain my progess so far.

i have slight sleep paralysis in my hands, and if i lay there for a hour at least, i eventually get some in my elbows... my hands feel like they're not there after a while, but it doesn't spread any further.

last night i lay there for AGES, and eventually i got a cold feeling in my chest/shoulder. it felt like a cold metal rod inside my chest. This was after i tried imagining myself doing lots of movement, and wanting to move lots, but not actually moving.

i've had slight hypnogogic imagery, or hypnologic or whatever you call it. this is really weak, its mainly phisiological stuff, like my eyes just being tired.

i've tried imagining music, and this is where i've had the most success. i've had some vivid experience with this. when i was trying this it was accompanied once by a bright flash of light, which is the only real images i've seen that have been described here. also i had a scary encounter with a flash of a little old lady, she looked really scary. she was pointing her finger shouting at me...

i've had some feeling of gravity going, and vibrations. but its very weak. also my hands felt like they were beneath the surface of the bed once.

all of these symptoms only come after hours of doing nothing. they never come in order or in stages, and i've only listed the strongest symptoms. most of the time i simply feel nothing.

      these are my questions

ok, so what i'm not sure about is whether i'm meant to be imagining whatever dream scene i want, and making it vivid with movement, or whether i'm meant to be focusing on my 'dream body' moving out and having gravity loss, or just relaxing as much as possible, or relaxing while focusing on breathing, or doing everything at once.

basically i'm just really confused. I've heard some people say that it took them months of practise to WILD, and i understand that and i'm willing to persist and i'm not expecting any miracle cure. But, i have no real idea what i'm meant to be practising, or what progress i should be expecting.

I'd be grateful if someone could inform me on their own learning process and realisations that helped them to be succesesful, and if someone could point me in the right direction.

      Please, can someone help me?
I spilled spot remover on my dog. He's gone now.

hehehe that would be lack of blood flow to a limb.
sleep paralysis in certain parts of your body? hehehe
if you lie on your arm or hold it in an akward position for a while it goes numb, its not sleep paralysis dude.

sorry that just made me laugh

Well some people experience sleep paralysis in a different way...maybe what he is experiencing is just the on-set of it.

Sorry I can't help ya more, I've only had one WILD.

my body seems to paralyse after about 30-40 minutes. Then I also get a cold feeling. It runs down from my head to my feet ever 5 mins or so. Then I get slight hypnotic imagery but never got any further.

      I'll give it a go.

What you should really be doing at the first is focussing on NOTHING.

Spend the first 10-30 minutes or so relaxing, EXACTLY like you do when you are falling asleep at night.

After a while, your thinking will begin to get fuzzy and your mind will begin to wander. You may hear voices, remember conversations or events that have occurred during the day. You may even see light patterns of have small segments of a dream.

It is at this point that you are kind of walking the fine line between full sleep and full wakefullness. Right now, if someone talked to you, you would hear them, but they would sound far away, you know, like when someone is trying to wake you up. Also, If someone were to turn on a light, you would startle and be amazed at how close to sleep you really are.

When you realize you are in this state, begin counting:
      "1...I'm dreaming"
      "2...I'm dreaming"

      and so on.

Try your best to stay relaxed and in the warm fuzzy state. Soon, you should notice the onset of sleep paralysis. You know those nights when you are laying in bed and your body suddenly jerks and you are awake?
Entering sleep paralysis and the vibrations that occur are like that.

Once the vibrations start, keep up your counting and don't let it scare you too badly. They can get intense sometimes and it takes a lot of will power to keep from waking up.

After a little while, they will begin to fade and you will feel a sinking sensation. At this point, you are in sleep paralysis and on the threshold of your lucid dream.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

well, the big question is : have you actually entered a dream?
If you havent, then it wasnt WILD at all. Just overactive imagination...

When you'll finally do WILD, I dont think you'll call it "uneventful"....

My advice is : relax and dont try too hard. One night you will get it and it'll become clear. First WILDs are very cool and unusual, later you get used to them and dont get all the cool effects...

heh, i agree some of it would be lack of blood flow. therin lies my problem; nothing interesting happens. although, i'm sure some of it is SP, because its much different to 'pins and needles' (and i'm lying on my back with my hands at my side.. lack of bloodflow is improbable )

its more like i cant feel its presence at all. i'm not sure whether it curled into a fist or flat, or whether its inside the covers or not...

thanks seeker, i have a positive feeling about what you said. i havent tried it yet, but i'm sure it will work.

its strange how some people insist it happens in minutes if you do it properly... they're obviously just naturals. what i'd like to know is, how are they different and what makes it so easy for them... *steals DNA*

      hahah! thief!
i reckon 'naturals' are people who have a different stae of mind to people who have to try a bit harder. we all have it in us, but it's what kind of person you are mentally.
