      Sexual Induced Lucid Dream

I have had lucid dreams in the past and am thinking about using SILD, or sexual induced lucid dream technique. Has anyone had success with this? Also, I have been wondering if sex or masturbation before going to bed diminishes the ability to lucid dream when using techniques not related to SILD, such as MILD or WILD. I heard somewhere that it does.

It is not only the distraction of it, but the excitement.
You need to remain sombre and placid when trying to sleep or enter Lucidity.
This kind of excitement should be left for later lucid experiences when you know how to control your excitement levels.
I am sure many experienced here would agree.

I used to believe that sex/masterbation deminished my chances of becoming lucid however from recent experiences I don't believe it does, atleast not in my case.
      Check out my Coder Profile

DILDs = 8 (relatively recent ones)
WILDs = 0 (got close though)

Well masturbation does help you sleep.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe sex releases stuff in your brain that makes you sleepy. I remember reading somewhere that if people have trouble getting to sleep at night, having sex before you try helps. I was wondering the same thing though whether these chemicals in your brain make it harder to retain consciousness as opposed to just being physically sleepy. I think the problem wouldn't be able to not fall asleep, but to slip out of consciousness too easily. Any scientists around?

Lets not confuse actual sex or masturbation which afterwards relaxes and helps you sleep...
to thinking about sex and sexual encounters which actually excites you and creates adrenaline.
After you are satisfied you don't need to think about sex anymore and are physically content.
Before sex and longing/thinking about sex, you are driven and excited, producing all sorts of hormones.
You don't need to be a scientist to know that.

What I was trying to get at was whether the relaxing chemicals afterwards are literally just to relax your body or if they act to dull your conciousness as well.

masturbation is not going to make you sleepy unless ou 'go through with it' and im talking about guys here....otherwise it will just make you excited and want to continue. So starting and then stopping....not a good idea for lucid dreaming.

I would tend to agree with most of the comments here. I never sleep better than when I'm having regular sex. I think it helps my lucidity, but to be honest I don't have any tally sheets or anything so it's just a hunch.

Afaik, sexual abstinence improves lucidity. As everyone disagrees with eachother, the only way to find out is try out. Just don't do anything for a month and you'll see how vivid your dreams suddenly get Most people claim it doesn't matter, but those people are not able to not touch them selves for a whole month. They think if they don't masturbate for ONE day, it will improve lucidity.. no lol thats not how it works.

      Red face

I happen to use this as a source to just bringing women into my dreams.
I'd usually do a WBTB followed by a google search on some of that nasty stuff

So far so good on lucid counts.

I'm not sure what the actual technique is but I just conducted and accidental experiment and was surprised by the results.

Gonna go into detail about my sex life and contraception, so um:

      Spoiler for tmi:

Certainly not true for me. Anyway, who wants to go that long?
