Is it normal to view your dream coming into existence?

Last night I think I imagined my dream coming into existence instead of normally me just appearing in dreamland suddenly. I'm not sure when it happened but I think I remember me seeing just regular blackness then slowly the dreamworld came into existence. I thought it might be a WILD but I wasn't sure that this "event" happened right when I fell asleep. It felt more like it happened much later during the night after I had been sleeping for awhile...

My question is, is it normal (has it happened to any of you) to recognize your dream being created? I'm asking because normally I just appear there and then realize I'm dreaming later.

I've lost sooo much sleep trying to WILD!
Maybe soon. Worked on it for about 45 minutes this morning.
Frustrating. I was too easily distracted. Between the wife moving and the dogs after something...
Finally just gave up and went into work early!

WILD seems to work for me lately, its a really great technique, but yes it is exausting, getting up all the time and staying awake

its a method for gettingyourself into a lucid dream, you basically remain consious as you fall asleep, its tricky but well worth it

The transition from here to the dream world is frikin amazing, its like being born
"A knight is sworn to valor.
      His heart knows only virtue.
      His blade defends the helpless.
      His might upholds the weak.
      His word speaks only truth.
      His wrath undoes the wicked."

Impossible is only that which has yet to be imagined
