      Saltcube Rythmic Napping Method

Firstly, you will need Saltcube's free flash timer, download it here: http://filebeam.com/07df294313f1b3aad37b8a870fb37fb1

Next, unzip it, open it up, and start "timer.exe" a window will pop up, on the left there is a lot of numbers, and there are some options on the main screen. Basically, you chose what timer you want, i recommend using this one: 8,4,8,12,16,20,20,6. It has a base interval of 4 minutes, the setup is predefined as rhythm nap 4. You will usually become lucid during the first or second 20 minute period.

Now when do you use this?
Set your alarm clock to wake you up at some time early in the morning, around 5-6 hours after you fall asleep, usually for most people around 5:00-5:30 AM. Once the alarm goes off, get up, out of bed, and read about lucid dreaming, or whatever you want to do on the subject. After an hour, go back to bed, lay down, start the timer, and daydream until you go to sleep. You are supposed to wake up each time the timer goes off, and once you do, go back to sleep. Once the timer has finished it's final duration, get up, and write down what you have experienced. You may not become lucid on your first try, but if you experience anything you haven't before, it was a successful session.

      Thanks for reading!

Seriously, it's an awesome method. Back in 1997 I've programmed a small home computer, the Zilog Z80 based Enterprise 128 to give signals while I sleep.

I've used this method sporadically with great success until around 2005 when I developed some serious sleep apnea. I still suffer from it when I fall asleep tired. It's triggered by sharp noises.

I've also researched the biology of this method and it seems to work by decoupling PGO-activity from REM-sleep.

      Thumbs up

Thank you. This'll give me the opportunity to create an Mp3 file which would imitate the timer. Therefor I can put it in my music player

I just got a PM from someone saying that i'm trying to take credit for other people's work.

      How?

I'm simply posting these for the convenience of others, and that i'm trying to get rapidshare premium points? Buddy, this is hosted on filebeam, and my other file on rapidshare, also a mirror on filebeam. Also, do you think i'll get 10,000 downlaods of the file? Another thing, the file is too small for me to get any points at all if someone downlaods it.

      Wink

Well. The point is you are trying to help many people out here by introducing Us to this timer-already created by some else. I've happen to run into this timer at Saltcube, but ignored it-which I now regret. Anyway, it was nice of you to re-upload it for us, so there isn't much to say about that. I'm sure who ever it was that PM you was unable to tune in to what you were trying to conger into the open. ) This is just a brief missunderstanding- and I got no problem with rapidshare. Hehehe I happen to DL a lot from there- especially when everyone is now linking us to many host sites. )

Okay I downloaded it, and I'm not sure if I interpreted the directions at the beginning of the thread right.

Exactly what am I supposed to do?

Oh, and I also don't have computer access in my room

This method is based around having a comp in your room to do the alarm, if not, then you need a cooking alarm that you can set without looking at it.

No it wasn't, you must have a cooking timer! If not, you can get one for $3, and setting it without looking at it is easy!

This stuff Works like a charm. I created an experimental mp3 which included some beeping sound to wake you up every [random] 8,6,7,10 mins. The funny thing is I only made it so that instead of beeping 3 times, it made 1 loud beep. The beeps woke me a couple of times and I somehow fell back asleep very quickly, and managed to have a LD. I also had a false awakening along the way. This stuff, I will try again tonight.

Anyone can do this. All you need is Any audio editing software and a beep sound

Sounds interesting but must say I don't really see WHY this would work? Also, how long will it take in total (not the intervals) because I would like SOME rest, lol.
Thanks for posting by the way. I'll surely try it sometime.

EDIT: It's 1:38 AM here, and I have to wake up at around 9:30, does it still make sense to try this method?
The reason it has the intervals is because after a few nights your body gets used to the amount of time. The reason to do it is for beginner LD'ers, so they can get a taste of a LD, it won't be an epic dream, but enough to get someone hooked.

Okay, but why would waking up every couple of minutes help getting lucid dreams?

Because you give your body enough time to fall asleep but not enough to get into a deep sleep, so you are on the brink of consciousness.

      Ah I see. Thanks.
Tonight I'll try that, in combination with a WBTB and apple juice I'll post results tomorrow.
Edit: Wait, I'm looking at the timer now, so it will wake me up after 8-4-8-12-16-20-20-6 minutes, and then with 6 minutes intervals forever? But do I still get some rest then? Or does it only repeat 6 minutes until the 15th interval?

Meh What I do is just add a 2 hour interval after the 6 minute, so it wont constantly wake me.

I tried it and got nothing. I believe that they did the rhythm incorrectly and I'm doing a study now to support that.
