I'm certainly no DEILD expert...or even experienced with it too much, but if you are doing the technique correctly, it shouldn't take more than 1 minute to fall asleep, usually only 5-20 seconds.
That is, wake up after a dream, do NOT move, and lay there and use a tactile or visual scenario (if you want) to enter a dream.
If you are having that much trouble falling asleep, I'd say that you could be moving after you wake up OR perhaps you just aren't letting yourself fall asleep.
You are waking up after dreams, not just in the morning, right?
