      First WILD attempt tonight.

I am planning on going to sleep at 11 and waking at 5. (I have to use my phone's vibrate function since I share a room with my younger brother).

My recall is about 3 or 4 dreams a night.

Do I have a realistic chance of attaining a WILD?

yup, just stay awake when you fall asleep :p

are you familiar with the process? as long as vibrations, noise, and sleep paralysis don't startle or excite you - I'd say good luck! Let us know what happens

      Sweet!

I'd experienced it once as a child, so I know what to expect. Of course, I had no idea on what I was doing and I just wanted to sleep, so this will be a new experience for me.

I'll definitely post what happens tomorrow.

Oh yeah, you definitely have a shot. As long as your technique is pretty solid, then you might just get it. And like poliganometry said above, your experience w/ SP will work to your advantage, so try to remember how it felt the first time you experienced it.
Another thing, dont expect to get it on the very first try. If you get very close and wake yourself up; just lie there, dont move, continue breathing slowly and go for it again pretending like nothing happened.

      Here's how it went.

I woke up naturally at 4:59 (oh the irony) and got about 6 hours of sleep, so I knew I was good. I went to the bathroom and then sat there for about 15 minutes and went back into bed.

I counted my breaths like I was supposed to until I had to swallow (ugh). I then tried it again, but gave up after I got to 400 and felt nothing.

However, I did notice that around 300 my breaths were getting much longer by themselves, but nothing besides that.

Any help on the swallowing thing? That seemed to be my main drawback.

I've read that some people lie with their head tilted back slightly to reduce the urge to swallow. I can't get comfortable when my head is like that though.

When I need to swallow, i just do it. keeping relaxed is key, don't dwell on the fact that you just swallowed. I've also noticed that it's easier for me to wild if i don't count anything. keeping my head clear of any activity seems to help the most(including dismissing random thoughts that jump into my head). Keeping my mind from finding something to focus on helps me enter sp quicker than if i let my mind wander.

try to keep a blank slate up there until you're notice that your body is slipping away.

As for the swallowing, I suggest breathing through your nose. This helps somewhat when it comes to WILDing.
And when I WILD, I dont even count, I just lie there until my body's asleep.

dude, all you gotta do is lay on a sort of side/stomach combo. ive always used this method. i put a small pillow underneath my abs to keep me propped up. make sure ur mouth is lower than ur throat, so that when u produce saliva, it goes to the front of ur mouth instead of sitting at ur throat. i havnt tried a WILD in a few months, and yesterday i thought, im gonna try a WILD tonight. i had 2 WILDS! only one went lucid, but thats my fault. i reached SP perfectly on both. im telling u man. its the way to go. i never had the urge to swallowdoing this
      | DILD= 5 | DEILD= 2 | MILD= 4 | WILD= 5 |

The biggest issue i've had with allowing saliva to collect at the front of my mouth is that i started drooling during my wild, which was totally distracting.

      Thanks.

I was wondering if it matters if I shift my eyes inside my head at all. Is that the same as actually moving?

just keep them relaxed, as long as you're not consciously making them dart around -looking for an image, i don't think it would really matter very much.

my eyes drift all over the place when i'm falling asleep, eventually they always end up rolling up and back though

Yeah, and what I do sometimes is try to focus my eyes on the center of my vision; I think this helps to produce HI faster than moving your eyes around.
