Thread: Became Lucid in dream.. woke up.. loud screeching/ringing?

I know I've heard that a loud noise like this can be part of SP, but do any of you ever wake up from a lucid or a non lucid and hear this loud screeching/ringing noise? And if so, is there anyway to use it to your advantage to get back into the dream? Also, when one enters SP, say in a WILD, if you hear this loud noise... how long does it last?

Yeah, but doesn't happen to me often. I guess it happens to other people alot. I've never woken up from SP and gone back to sleep in SP, maybe because it was too disturbing, and I just want to get out of the SP. I have WILDed before though, and it usually takes me a few seconds - a minute to get out of that stage.

Sounds like SP to me. Look up DEILD in the tutorials section or through the search function, if you are still in SP when you wake up, as long as you remain calm (if I freak out my heart starts pounding and I won't get back to sleep for at least an hour) you should be able to WILD. Even if you don't WILD, having just returned from a lucid you should be able to get a DILD out of the new one, I can usually chain DILDs that way.

I'll take ur advice and try to remain calm and do a chain DILD. I'll also look up some more information on DEILDs. I guess I was just pretty shocked because I've never woken up with a loud noise like that before. Hopefully, I can remain calm and ride the SP next time into a DEILD.

My pleasure Yea, the range of crazy 'symptoms' of SP are dazzling. I usually just get vibrations and some hallucinations, which can be creepy. I used to get a falling-through-the-bed sensation or actual physical paralysis every once in a while, but I rarely even experience SP to begin with. Probably because I'm always trying to now that I know I can lucid, as opposed to before when I just was afraid of being paralyzed
