      Sleep Meds?

Does anyone know about the effects of sleep medication on LDing? Do some increase your chances or the vividness of dreams? What are some that dampen dreaming vividness or negatively impact LDing?

Im concerned because Im living in a college dorm and having a lot of trouble sleeping here with all the noise. I want to get sleep meds to help me crash despite the distractions (I have a lot of trouble -falling- asleep, not so much staying asleep). I dont know if sleep meds are the right way to go but I'm going to talk to my doctor. I just wanted to know about some experiences ahead of time though.

      Total LDs: 3

In my experience, they all inhibit dream recall. I take Ambien currently, and can't recall more than fragments on nights that I take it. It is only supposed to last 4 hours, so you would think that you would benefit from REM rebound, but maybe it doesn't stop you from going into REM.

Well, for me, the closest I've ever got to actually LDing was after a surgery when the anesthesia was wearing off. It was like being aware of everything, but my body kept falling asleep. It's probably not the same sleep meds though. Dunno if that helped.
