      Mini's DILD Guide/experiment

Frequent DILDs can potentially be had by good recall, RCs, and knowing your common dream themes, or dreamsigns. I just realized I had like eight recurring signs in my dreams. By training myself to realize these signs and do an RC when I encounter them, I hope to get many more frequent DILDs.

Here's my technique I will use:

      * * *

      1. Get good recall. This is the foundation. You cannot do this without good recall. More dreams means more DILD opporotunity.

      2. Take perhaps a month or maybe a few weeks and record all your dreams with some good detail. If you already keep a DJ, skip to step 3.

      3. Read through your DJ and pick out recurring themes. The easiest way to do this would be to find something you may notice, pick a keyword, and pick out/highlight snippets with that keyword in it.

      4. If you encounter these things in real life, do an RC when you come across them! Train yourself to do an RC whenever you encounter or even mention a frequent dreamsign.

      Example:

I go through my dream journal and find a lot of my dreams take place at my one grandmother's house. So I pick out snippets of my dream journal that take place at nana's house:

"For some odd reason, i was touring nana’s house"..."we were at nana’s"..."we ran back to nana’s. we were in nana’s TV room"..."i remember being down nanas, and watching TV in the room down at the end of the hallway"..."Later, i was down nana’s and we were in the backyard with some of the neighbor kids"..." I was also down nana’s."..." going on a trip and stopping at nana’s house"..."i was at nana’s house again, but somehow, it was school"..."dream where i was down nana’s house"..."i remember being at nana’s house"..."I may have been down nana’s earlier"...

So nana's house is a recurring theme in my dreams. Whenever we drop by to visit IRL, I'm sure to do a RC so when i end up there in a dream, I'll do a successful RC!

Dream themes can also be something completely random and nonsensical. For example, here's quite a few snippets about the US Emergency Alert System, which shows up a lot in my dreams:

"the kitchen TV suddenly displays an EAS alert"..."There was a baseball game on and they did an EAS test"..."some sort of EAS alert was being broadcast for a thunderstorm"...

I also have frequent dreams about...get ready to laugh...XM radio and talk shows.

"On the XM display however, it said the artist was"..."the XM unit they left on in the dark attic"..."while I was listening to alan colmes on the radio, he came to the house and said something like why didn’t I call into the show"..." i was in this room where all those talk show personalities i listen to were in"..." I dreamt I was in a twilight zone I heard on the radio"..."having something to do with a radio program"...

Another strong dreamsign is TV-related miscellania.

"I saw the president resigning on TV"..."reading about judge judy on wikipedia"..."it looked like they had a camera pointing at another TV at the cable station "..."spiral staircase. It was like 60 steps. I think jerry and george from seinfeld were walking up it"..."mr. burns from the simpsons"..."There was a baseball game on"..."i was watching tv and a comedian was on with two others"..."Head On” and I may have mimicked the commercial."..."being in a mini-mart with jimmy from yes, dear"..."watching TV in the room down at th end of the hallway"..."went to blockbuster"..."i went back in time and worked on the set of Nickelodeon GUTS"..."TV had a similar menu to mine"..."watching something on TV"..."watching some kind of tv program with jerry stiller"...

Dreamsigns may also be seasonal or occasional. Toward the beginning of summer, I tend to dream a lot about going on vacation:

"we went on vacation"..."half a school day in the middle of vacation"..."we were planning to go on vacation"...

These are just some of my dreamsigns. I tend to have frequent dreams involving some faculty from school, my old school, my father, and electronics.

The trick is to realize your dream themes and if they occur in real life, RC when you come across them in daily life. With enough habit, it should carry into your dreams and you can utilize these frequent themes to your advantage!

I will be doing this from now on. I encourage others to do so and report back with their results!

Okay, two seperate dreams today had the nana's house dreamsign...but in both cases I never did an RC!! Even worse, both were my usual "unusual" dream.

Here's some snippets from my DJ:

anyway, later on i was down nana’s house on the patio and someone was there and said something about how i couldn’t float on the pillow, like a dare or something. I said i could and to watch me and i ended up floating so high up as i held on to the pillow...i said to myself “if i let go of this, i’m gonna fall and die.” but i don’t think i let go
nap dream: i think i remember vaguely something about parking at school...and being down nana’s once again...except now she was haivng problems with the phone or something. it wouldn’t dial out and if you left it off the hook a while it would ring and then do that noise it does when you leave it off the hook. other relatives of mine were there, including one of my uncles and i asked for his cell phone to test out nana’s house phone. while i was using it he said he was currently looking at a model “5000” or “9000”, either of them, and i said to take a look at my ipod touch since it’s similar to the iphone. i think the carrier he was on was nextel, his phone looked like those old nextel phones. i think nana was getting upset over the phone, saying something like “my old service never did anything like this".
