      Lucidity, but no control?

The other night I had a dream where I was lucid, I knew completely I was dreaming, but I couldn't fly. I couldn't walk through walls, I couldn't manipulate anything.

I just knew that I was dreaming, but had no control.

      How did that happen?..

Unfortunatly, lack of control in lucid dreams is really common for beginners. It also happens to more experienced dreamers. Yesterday morning I had a whole dream spent running into walls, the insides of closets and refridgerators trying to teleport!! And I've had hundreds of LDs!

Beyond lack of experience it all basically boils down to the dreamers belief that they can do whatever it is they are trying for and the emotions they feel at that instant.

If you are really serious about mastering dream control I suggest reading The Nature of Dream Control by The Cusp, as that is the best guide out there.

Well I have been having lucid dreams for quite a few years now. Not necessarily TRYING to get them, that has been on and off, but I would say I am pretty experienced and have done some very interesting things in LDs. Thats why i was unsure why sometimes I can't do anything, no matter how hard I believe I can.

I even had one LD where I couldn't do anything, and i couldn't wake myself up. (I used to realize i was having a nightmare, turn it into an LD and wake myself up when I was a little kid). The dreams where I can't wake myself up scare me the most... I almost feel like im going to be trapped in my mind for god knows how long, considering an hour LD can be minutes in real life.

I know how you feel! I think dream control is the most challenging aspect of LDing for me sometimes, while other times I have perfect control!
