      Swallowing while attempting WILD

Any techniques on how to prevent the need to swallow while lying on your back. Whenever I try to WILD it gets to the point where my body forces me to swallow and I feel like that ruins my chances. Any tips or techniques?

I wouldn't worry about swallowing. Don't even think about it. It's never affected me.

Swallowing is a reflex action, and occurs even when you are dreaming, same as breathing.

Your problem isn't the swallowing, it's that you are worrying about it.
Because you worry about it each time you do swallow, your brain suddenly changes state. Because you've assigned it as important.

Essentially any natural body function: breathing, swalllowing, moving slightly to get comfortable, twitiching, passing wind etc. etc. shouldn't be a concern.

The point with entering a WILD is to just let nature take it's course.
Relax just enough so that your body is heading towards dreaming, not waking.
Thinking too much, worrying too much are behaviours that point in the direction of waking, not sleeping.

All you really want to do is just keep that level of self awareness, consciousness to keep ticking over. How you do that effectively will depend very much on who you are and how your mind works.

Try this, every time you swallow, rather than think of it being a problem, use it as a reminder to be aware and conscious.

Wow thanks, that was a really helpful post. I think you pretty much just rapped it all open in a nice little package.

lol the first few nights I attempted WILD I didn't know what to do about swallowing, so I just didn't! My mouth totally filled up with saliva and I ended up drooling all over myself
