      Swallowing while attempting WILD

Any techniques on how to prevent the need to swallow while lying on your back. Whenever I try to WILD it gets to the point where my body forces me to swallow and I feel like that ruins my chances. Any tips or techniques?

I wouldn't worry about swallowing. Don't even think about it. It's never affected me.

Swallowing is a reflex action, and occurs even when you are dreaming, same as breathing.

Your problem isn't the swallowing, it's that you are worrying about it.
Because you worry about it each time you do swallow, your brain suddenly changes state. Because you've assigned it as important.

Essentially any natural body function: breathing, swalllowing, moving slightly to get comfortable, twitiching, passing wind etc. etc. shouldn't be a concern.

The point with entering a WILD is to just let nature take it's course.
Relax just enough so that your body is heading towards dreaming, not waking.
Thinking too much, worrying too much are behaviours that point in the direction of waking, not sleeping.

All you really want to do is just keep that level of self awareness, consciousness to keep ticking over. How you do that effectively will depend very much on who you are and how your mind works.

Try this, every time you swallow, rather than think of it being a problem, use it as a reminder to be aware and conscious.

Wow thanks, that was a really helpful post. I think you pretty much just rapped it all open in a nice little package.

      You made me lol irl.

Swallowing has been a problem for me too. Sometimes ill get really relaxed and feel constricted breathing and feel the need 2 swallow. Hopefully reading this post will help me out. Thanks!

I used to have a problem with swallowing, but then I decided to just swallow and if it ruined the experience, it did, but if it didn't, then I'd lost nothing. The LD went a little fuzzy, and I lost some control, but then I just thought "All I did was swallow, I didn't wake up" and everything was fine again.

I tried my first WILD last week. I got the vibrations, and did feel a powerful wave come over me, tightening my chest and my head.
Then I swallowed (couldn't help it) and it stopped.

I've no Idea if It stopped it, or if I got through it. (Tried it from a cold start at bed time- which I now know is a bad move).

I used to have the same exact problem and the solution is simple, sleep with your head tilted back as if you had a wet rag over your eyes. This opens the passage to your throat allowing you to breath better and the saliva wont gather in your mouth. It works for me every night and i haven't swallowed since.
The problem is, after 10-20 minutes of having your head tilted you wont even recognize your head has leaned back down slowly, so make sure you keep your head back at all times.
I just dont use a pillow and look straight up, works fine.
      I hope that helps

Yea, I felt pretty stupid when I did it. My mouth kinda went numb, but I could feel my lips getting really wet and then I overflowed..

btw I have a friend whos last name is chan and strangely enough he is often referred to as 'chan the man.' Hmm... Am I dreaming?
