      Am i doing everything right?

Hello all, first time poster and pretty new to lucid dreaming.

This is how i'm going about lucid dreaming.

I'm keeping a dream journal, iv had 3 dreams in the past 4 nights, the last two nights i haven't been able to remember anything even though i tell myself before i goto sleep that i will remember my dreams when i wake up, over and over again.

How many days or weeks or even months of dreaming do i have to jot down to develop a dream sign? so far in two of my dreams its included a cigarette, even though i don't smoke that much.

When i go through and develop a dream sign what do i do after that?

From what i have read on some sites is that once you develop a dream sign when you see it in reality you automatically do a few reality checks so that when your next dream comes around, and that dream sign is there, your mind will be tricked into doing that reality check, and say if you pull your finger and it stretches you will become lucid. Or maybe its even more simple than that? tips/advice or whatever is much appreciated, thanks.

Well, from my findings, I have a plethora of Dream Signs. Once you have 2-4 weeks of dreams down, I think there's enough info to pinpoint a sign.

Here's our Dream Signs tutorial if you want some basic info on signs, or if you want to find out what type of DS you have.

Ok thanks, and thanks for the welcome.

Another question i have is in the mean time do i do reality checks even though i haven't developed a dream sign yet? and if i have my first successful lucid dream do i need to wait another 2 weeks worth of dreams to find another dream sign? can i use the same dream sign over and over? thanks.

another very usefull RC is to Plug your nose, If you can breath with your nostrils blocked = you are dreaming. or look into a Digital clock or a digital device like a cell phone . look at it ones, look away and then look back if something changes = you are dreaming.

Try Autosuggestion before going to bed.

It's ALWAYS helpful to RC. Anytime, anyplace.

That's the thing about DS; You never know if it will change or not. It's always a good idea to find a good 3 or 4, so just in case one doesn't show up anymore, you'll still have some to fall back on.
