      Unhappy New here, attaining SP

I'm new here and could really use some advice on attaining SP.

I've read around and I think I've followed most of the instructions pretty well, I'll start by waking up just before REM sleep. I'll relax myself and lie back down staying completely still in a comfortable position for as long as it takes.

Within about 45 mins I'll start feeling a little knumb, achy, and my heart rate begins to excellerate. This is about as far as it gets, I'll either fall asleep or stay up for several hours waiting for it.

I've tried taking my mind off the wait by letting random thoughts go through my head while keeping an anchor such as "pain" to keep me in a conscious state, but after to long I begin to lose focus.

I'd like to note that while unrelated to the problem I'm having, I have experienced one lucid dream before a few months ago, and it was fantastic but fairly short. I'd like to experience it again, any help would be appreciated

      Red face

Sorry for the double post but I had a really strange experience a few minutes ago while taking a long nap.

I'm not sure if this was a WILD or not but here it goes...

While trying to attempt SP, I actually failed, and fell asleep. While I slept I had a dream about a little girl in this floating chair, she had no legs, and would seem terrifying to say the least but for some reason I wasnt the least bit scared. Within a second or so for no apparent reason I knew I was dreaming, I've never seen this girl before so I have no idea why I'd even begin to think that I was dreaming.

Few seconds later I woke up in disappointment, and immediatly tried to WILD using memory of the little girl as somehow my anchor to being conscious. Amazingly it actually worked, I started hearing some strange sound, and I kept telling myself not to be afraid, ironicly enough the sound was actually my sinuses in my nose shifting upward, just after this I fell through my bed into another room. The room was dark but lit in the middle of where I was standing, I think the floor was made out of tiles, and it looked like I was stairing out of a pair of goggles, I tried moving but couldnt, but once I did I actually ended up waking up, and ending the dream.

It's funny that this happened during the same day I posted for my first time on these forums. I tried a technique earlier this morning by telling my sub conscious in the mirror while brushing my teeth to help me lucid dream, and to send me someone in my dream to warn me that I am dreaming.

I dont know if this little girl could of been the character my sub conscious sent to tell me that I was dreaming, or if its simply spending more time thinking about lucid dreaming that triggerd me to question if I was in my dream.

If your heart rate is accelerating, sorry, but that's not SP. That's fake SP that you get from the power of suggestion. It's a very similar phenomenon to hypnosis, except the induced trance is what you expect SP to be. With real SP you won't feel your heart, or any of your body, except perhaps a floating feeling or the 'lead blanket'. It can go either way.

I wouldn't recommend focusing on pain, ever. It just won't help. By being cognizant of the pain you amplify it, and you will inevitably be forced to do something about it, which most likely means moving.

Also, I don't know how many times people (including me) have had to say this, but this is NOT how you do it:

      1. get to SP
      2. enter dream

The above steps and the accompanying attitude will cause you to fail 99% of the time. Think of WILDing like a husband or boyfriend trying to get laid by his wife/girlfriend who hasn't put out in months. You know you have to maybe make a romantic dinner and woo her with your charm, but you can't just eat dinner and not talk, and then charm her after dinner. It doesn't work sequentially like that. You have to do everything simultaneously. To WILD, you have to relax, AND visualize, AND keep yourself conscious, all at the same time. The steps should look like this:

      1. EVERYTHING

      Hope this helps.

It will take time, till you get into state, where you will get more "subtle" in your attempts.

Even if you think that you applied the steps correctly, you dont have to be successfull. Its becouse of the intensity of applying them. And this is what is balanced during practice.

Just sharing some experience with you that you may find useful, when I first started trying WILDs I got vibrations and lights, but that changed after about my second try to a flashing train track effect. The point I'm try to get across is that you might feel/notice things abit different and think your going wrong or more right but as posted above its probably you just getting used to it all coming together. Like driving a car, gotta keep all the gear changes and clutch work together nicely to get a smooth ride.

--While I slept I had a dream about a little girl in this floating chair, she had no legs, and would seem terrifying to say the least but for some reason I wasnt the least bit scared. Within a second or so for no apparent reason I knew I was dreaming, I've never seen this girl before so I have no idea why I'd even begin to think that I was dreaming.--

Why wouldn't you think you were in a dream? You saw a legless girl with a floating chair, thats just a tad outlandish so it good that you recognized the fact you were in a dream.

Finally not everyone 'feels' SP, I personally just fall into a dream and never get to feel SP until sometimes as I come out of it. SP is just mainly for keeping your movements within a dream so that your RL body isn't flailing around and waking you up. If you read up on the new GILD/MFG technique going around it relies heavily on really quick SP and you might wanna have a look.

      Cheers

Thanks guys I appriciate it, I'll attempt a WILD again tonight. It's good to know that not everyone feels SP and can still attain a wild, hopefully I'll be able to do the same.

Take a look at this thread

      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=61525

It will show you, that sleep paralysis sensations are absolutely not necessary to enter dream trough WILD. They are just side effect of consciousness making interventions in realm it doesnt know

Try making your room as dark as possible, turn on the fan if you have one and have your blanket completely over you. I did this a few months ago and i had 3 or 4 dreams i don't remember if any of them though were lucid. And that's the first time ever that i had that many in the short about 4 or 5 hours of sleep that i had.
