I don't think that you waste your time, what else should you do while waiting for sleep ??? You got to spend this time anyway so why not on practicing?
As you probably know Its easyier to get WILDs in the morning cose you have more dreams at this time but I also try to WILD in the evening. I found out that I have more dream-initiated LD's during sleep when I practise WILD in the evening. It also happened that my mind continued practising WILD in the morning against my will and I got a LD this way. Thirtly its always better to be conscious instead of absorbed by thoughts before falling asleep since LDs have a lot to do with being aware, I hope you know what I'm trying to say.

I've tried to WILD as I go to sleep. Though I've never completed WILD(morning or night), when I've tried it at night I can manage to get vibes and even some sounds. I definitely think it's possible to do this, however you're not gaurunteed an extremely high callibre of lucidity.

I had a WILD when I was taking a nap at 4 pm...I've tried to do it a couple times at night but I usually get too tired and just fall asleep. If you aren't tired or have had too much caffeine or something I think it could definitely happen.

yeah, I love practicing WILD during the nighttime hours, i feel besides pushing my chances of passing into lucidity it actaully kinda releaves some stress throughout the day. its like meditating kinda but ya know. anywho, I've found that if you really wanna get a good WILD going, stay up all night long, then the following day (running off of 1hour or sleep or less) around the laterevening ( like 5-7) lay down in your bed and you'll notice everything seems soooo comfortable, kinda like when u wake up for school or work and u cant ge tout of bed, close your eyes, and dont have an intent on falling asleep, just rest your eyes and you'll start to have some wild WILD periods within like 5min.
