When should I start attempting WILD?

Ive been focusing on improving my dream recall for about a week and I have remembered vivid dreams and sometimes only bits and pieces of dreams at least once every night except for one night. I was wondering if I should start trying to WILD or focus mainly on DILD? any suggestions?

I like to tell newbies to start off with DILD first for 2 specific reasons. One; DILD is the technique that requires less prep, at least to me anyways. Two; Most noobs I see that start off with WILD and don't succeed tend to get discouraged REALLY fast about Lucid Dreaming. Most of all, it takes time, so if you have a low patience level, it's best you get it up.

Also, seeing as you're already doing one of the steps for DILD, I'd say to just to that one first anyways. Of course, good recall is essential for ALL methods of Lucid Dreaming. Just start keeping a Dream Journal (unless you already have one) and you'll be on your way.

OH! And to do Reality Checks, too. They come in handy as well.

Thanks! I have been keeping a dream journal since I started being interested in lucid dreaming about a week ago. I also agree with you on the point that WILD can cause discouragement because I actually started feeling that way. Thanks for the advice!

      I would take these steps:

      1. Dilds where you will learn a lot about your awareness in dreams
      2. WBTB, where you will learn a lot about self motivation and willpower
      3. WILD, where you will use your knowledge and learn how to be subtle enough to fall asleep - aware.

I hardly ever had DILDs but WILD can be frustrating trying to stay awake while sleeping :/. Sometimes you can get lucky and wake up in middle of the night and instantly get SP, happened to me twice.

      Wow.

That's awesome advise, adraw! I've never looked at it that way before.

So does this mean that I should try to Dild until I have one dild, then work on wbtb until I get an Ld like this and then start trying to wild?
