      Most effective?

      For a long time I have been trying to have Dream Induced Lucid Dreams, although kind of on and off. My success with that has been very average, only a couple of lucid dreams that lasted a few seconds, that I could not control. Is the WILD more effective than the DILD?

      Short answer: No.

      I think your best bet especially as a beginner (I am a beginner too) is to keep that DJ going every night, do RCs, and try to do 3-4 WBTBs a week. Once one has had several DILDs, I think their chance on a WILD increases dramatically. This is just my opinion though, and personally I think WILDs are incredibly difficult especially if you don't know that "feeling" of what it's like to be Lucid in a dream.

      Simple answer is neither WILD nor DILD are techniques. They are types of lucid dreams.

      WILDs are generally harder to induce.
      So you're better of starting out with a practice geared towards having a DILD.

      I always try to DILD when I go to bed, then DEILD or else WILD when I wake up? Is this just confusing my subconscious?

      Okay, I tried to WILD yesterday during the day when I was tired and I did achieve some good results. The technique is similar to that I used to practice astral projection, which I never succeeded at. It does feel very strange but I think I can do it. I also tried the DEILD last night but that's going to take more practice

      Hey buddy, I know what you are going through. I had the same thing when I was beginning at this. You just have to keep trying, and realize that there isn't any reason for you to wake up. I mean, really just think about how there is no logical reason that becoming lucid should wake you up. When you get lucid don't think "I hope the dream doesn't end," and if/when you do just drop down and study the ground or a nearby textured object. It helped me a lot with getting that thought off my mind. For me WILD is not effective, however everyone is different, so you can try. Just because someone can't do it doesn't mean you can't, and unfortunately that kind of works the opposite way as well. How are you trying to induce DILDs? If your technique isn't working, try to change it a bit. I find that having lucid dreaming on your mind before you go to sleep helps a ton.

      EDIT: Didn't see your above post! Good that its working for ya. Technically DEILD is a WILD as well, just... I don't know I had to throw it in!

      Hey, thanks for your reply. I try to DILD by doing regular RC's and trying to keep a dream journal. I generally have to be really obsessed for it to work, and I am. But sometimes it's hard to keep the motivation, even thought I really, really want to be able to lucid dream. I know I should stick to one technique but I don't know which.

      DILDS at first

      Hi,
      In my experience WILDS are much harder to induce than DILDS. If you haven't yet had a lucid dream, I would concentrate your efforts on DILDS, simply because you're more likely to succeed. Once you have had a DILD, it increases your confidence, and makes achieving a WILD much more likely.
      Remember though that you need to sleep for four or five hours and then wake up before you make any attempt (DILD or WILD). You need to get your deep sleep out of the way, and get into the early morning REM cycles to be successful. You don't need to stay awake too long, but what is crucial is that as you drift back to sleep, you repeat your intention to become aware as soon as you are dreaming. You need to carry this intention right upto, and beyond, the point of falling asleep. You'll lose consciousness briefly, and then feel vibrations, and/or simply become lucid.
      Of course everyone is different, but I've tried every method currently known, including all the lucid supplements (which work well, but give a different kind of experience), and the waking method combined with strong intention works for me almost every time ( but only when I make a big effort on the intention).
      The only other advice I can offer is - always do lots of reality checks at night.Make it a habit, every time you wake, or are aware at night. Pinch your nose and see if you can still breathe - this is the best one. This check alone (if you get into doing it throughout the night even when your sure you're awake) will give you lots of LD's.

      Astral projection is lucid dreaming IMHO.

      Most WILDS result in False awakenings.
      Just because you think your floating about your bedroom, doesn't mean you actually are.

      I see what you mean moonshine, I've thought that before. But how come people can see event that are presently happening if it is a lucid dream? Or can one do that in a lucid dream? (That would be pretty cool ) Anyway I am happy to say that I had my first real DILD last night... It was cool. I started in my house and it suddenly occured to me and I just said to my brother, "wait a minute..... dream?" and he just said "yep". Which I think is strange coz i thought dream characters would deny it wouldn't they? So anyway I didn't really do a reality check because I put my hand foreward and a torch on the table just moved towards me so I knew it was a dream. It was night time and not many lights were on so I went to the kitchen and yelled "LET THERE BE LIGHT!!!" And only a few lights came on (I didn't think about lightswitches for whatever reason haha). But then I heard my mum sneeze from her bedroom and i wondered if it was a dream and i was waking the house up by yelling. But i looked outside and it was getting brighter and more lights randomly turned on so it confirmed it. But then I thought "theres so much I can do, I need to do something useful". Then I woke up sadly. It was very interesting for me. Can't wait to have another one

      I personally have only had one DILD, but I've had plenty of WILDS.

      I find WILDS to be much easier to achieve, but that's just me.

      That's pretty interesting. I guess if you get the hang of WILDing you can do it pretty often. I think I've seen some of your posts about taking supplements (galatamine among others). Can you say the same thing about WILDs being easier to achieve when you arent taking any supplements?

      The supplements, particularly the galantamine and GPC combo make it much easier to WILD.

      I plan on attempting to use some of the practices found in Tibetan Dream Yoga in the coming months, which I accept may work better than the supplements in many ways.
