Is it possible to become lucid without RCs?

sometimes in my dreams i forget to do a reality check, is there a better way to become lucid or do i need to get even more in the habbit of doin RCs?

I think most people (at least this is the way it is for me) realize they are dreaming for one reason or another and then do a RC to verify it. I'll usually notice something odd and then realize it's a dream without even doing a RC. So no, you do not need to RC to realize you are dreaming. The point of doing RCs during the day is to train your mind to question reality.

The whole point of a reality check is not to just look at your fingers or to stick your finger through your hand, but to become more aware of what is going on around you and to question things, to really question, deep down, whether or not something is a dream or reality. The 'physical' reality check is just an aid to somehow who has become aware enough to start becoming conscious during a dream and to help verify that it is a dream. By having a high enough awareness about your own behavior and emotions and the actions and reason for the things that occur in your environment, you can become lucid.

So the habit you should be developing is really awareness, with a side of rcing just to help you along. Randomly doing RCs can catch dreams, but by questioning things around you constantly, you will get more of those sudden-realization lucids.

You could try to learn to WILD, which does not rely on anything but learning to keep yourself conscious while you fall asleep. Autosuggestion and MILD, too. http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=75 http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=74 basically, anything that doesn't talk about RCing can be used to induce LDs without RCing

Still he's correct, this is how it is for people who have learned to state check by raising their awareness and doing reality checks.

It can be done but you must already have prior experience of doing RCs. You set your intent on your lucid goal that is to do the thing you been planning to do when lucid and ignore the idea of doing RC and becoming lucid, just give 100% to the lucid goal during WBTB, you will get your goal and be lucid by itself, happened few times to me. Same goal everytime just different ways to lucidity like sometimes it'll be the bathroom light blowing and other times I just know because of oddities. So the randome element is the RC or lucidity but the outcome or goal remains fixed because the intent is fixed.

If you don't want to loose sleep (as often happens with WILD) try DEILD. It is a shortened WILD, basically. If done correctly it only takes a few seconds. You will have to learn to awake as a dream ends and to hold still while you awake, but once you have those skills, it is probably the easiest and most reliable LD induction technique out there (IMHO).

No, you focus on your lucid dream objective. Your purpose for lucid dreaming.

Yes, you can become lucid without doing an rc. I've done i think it either this week or last week, i had a lucid dream where almost immediately i realized i was dreaming although, i forgot what the dream was about. Just look for something that seems out of place, and realize that, if you're not sleep in bed then you must be dreaming, although even this doesn't work all the time because some people like me have dreams about being in the room laying in the bed and the dream looks exactly like your real room. But when you do an rc then, you'll have the best chance of becoming lucid.

I think many people lucid dream without reality checks, in a way. Because all the times I have had a LD, I have basically already realized I was dreaming. I'm 99% sure, but I do a RC just to make sure.

Ya thats how it is for me. I just realise I'm dreaming and do a reality check to verify or see how it fails.

It depends, I usually realise I'm dreaming for no reason. Then I end up saying "I'm dreaming" and wake up ¬_¬

If lucid dreaming is always on your mind, or you become more aware then maybe if something out of the norm or really weird happens that just isn't right to you, you could think dang it a dream bitch
