      Mastering the techiques

As a beginner to lucid dreaming, I am curious to know what helped others master the technique of Lucid dreaming. I am not interested in links to the techniques this site has already provided, because i have read all of that information. What i am curious to know, is how you all started? What helped you master this skill?
If there is anything that has helped you personally, I am curious to know that aswell.

i know ive not mastered it, but i know how i did it in the first place, which i cant do anymore for some reason. its all about mental discipline and focus, ive lost that and if i get it back, i will have mastered it.

I was experiencing sleep paralysis for years before I got interested in lucid dreaming . Im still pretty new to it and I've only had a handul of them so far.

I just read all the stuff they have here and after a few weeks I had a very successful wild/wbtb. all my other wilds failed and the rest of my ld's were because I happened to remeber to do a reality check, but they've been short.

Being a natural helps a lot.
Also making my own technique that coordinates well with my sleeping schedule and style also helped out tremendously.

Mental discipline is something you have to find for yourself. Just reading guides wont help you much, I know because I had the same problem. In the end, the only way to learn lucid dreaming is to keep working hard until it works for you.

i agree with patient, just work really hard at it, you could try meditating to keep your mind clear of other thoughts, this will help focus

Thank you all for the advice.
Also, is there anything you can suggest to raise the amount of dreams I have?

I don't think you can raise the amount of dreams other than sleep in through the morning when the sun is up and you are not but you can raise the 'craziness' of the dream content by taking vit B complex pills. But it has never promoted lucid dreams for me just made them more 'crazy'...... Sorry I haven't been much help but that is my experience with lucid dreaming.

Try lots of different things you see here.
Bit of trial and error to see what works for you.
Don't take short cuts. (eg: Keep a dream journal etc)
Don't get too excited ever..it impedes things. (eg:goiin to sleep, trying methods etc)
      REALITY CHECK

Try doing repeated WBTB. For instance if you wake up after 4-6 hours of sleep and set your alarm to wake you up every 1-2 hours until you have reached a minimum of 10 hours of sleep. This should yield you at least 3 lucids. The more times you wake up and go back to sleep the more chances you have at having a DEILD, or even achieving a quick WILD.

haha, that is kind of what I do, however I wake up naturally. But like Brandon said, the more times you wake up the more time your mind is cleared and conscious, so it becomes like a temporary habit for that day. If you get it at the right point you will wake up right in the REM period and be pretty tired to go right back to sleep and enter a LD.
