      WILD Question

hi guys. you know how when you go to wild it's reccomended that you wbtb because of rem etc etc but do you have to? i read somewhere that someone just WILDed straight away. is this quite hard to do? like can i just do it as soon as i go to bed at my normal time? or is this quite hard and should i wait longer till i'm more experienced?
      Total LD's = 6 and counting! lol

It's hard to do a WILD right away but it's possible. I know many people who did this. You're level of concentration and patience must be very high and you must have discipline to succeed in this though.

The easiest way to WILD IMO is via the DEILD technique, I recommend that one especially if you aren't able/willing to spend time during a WBTB or initially at the beginning of the night. And as far as a wbtb, you can just set an alarm for your assumed rem period, then just turn it off and try to fall back to sleep. It's not required that you stay awake for hours, just experiment and try to see what works for you while not disrupting your sleep in a negative way.

I WILD strait away when I go to bed!
      If you say this
It's hard to do a WILD right away
Then it sticks in your head, thus making it hard! You have to KNOW IT IS EASY! And it will be!

You can't change the amount of time it will take by thinking of it like an easy technique. Your body needs time to fall asleep. I think your tip is more for techniques like MILD and DILD.

But isn't time just all in your head? It's just another form of perspective. Change your perspective, change the time!
The question is What is the question?

I agree with Shift. I have had Dreams very early after going to bed and awoken from them (so I knew when it was).
It is just breaking the sleep barrier and using a DEILD at this early point in the night that would be perfect, as opposed to lying awake for hours as I have done before.

Teach me. I only go into partial paralysis.

The repatative positive mnemonic gesture works to set the subconscious mind to attach to a thread of conscious thought.
This works best when your latest thoughts before sleep/WILD are used.
I found this very useful at WBTB (Wake Back To Bed) techniques.
Even when attempting WILDs, you go to a form of transitory sleep and therefore use this same tool.
If you were thinking of purple snakes when entering this phase it would probably be useless, except for a silly dream (it had no direction).
If you were thinking of specifics relating to a dream, for eg, "I will arrive at my doorstep and will attempt to hover", or "I will arrive at my doorstep and realise I am dreaming and hover", it will be much more beneficial.
Also, the repatativeness works the same as it did at school (hopefully not as boring).
Trick with repatative thoughts (in WILDs) is to keep awake.

Paralysis seems to happen all of a sudden to me, as you fall into semi-sleep, but seem to awaken in limbo by this sudden shock.
Every time I have hit SP was not by consciously waiting with baited breath, but hovering between sleep and awake, and luckily catching SP.
Its and Art, not a Science almost. But as an artist paints more and more, he/she becomes better and better.

      Hope this helps.
