I'm finding it very hard to become lucid; it's mostly just a coincidence that I become lucid - or I either forget that I've become lucid from within a dream, mostly due to an interim awakening - and back to sleep/dream. I remember becoming lucid last night, one other time during this week for a few moments before becoming susceptible to the dream again - and once last week. However, the times before - and during the time at which I had slept today, I had not once become lucid. I've been trying LDS and reality checks consistently but still haven't achieved full lucidity - I've been trying to become lucid on a daily - or more than once a week since August, but have only achieved very little success - throughout most times I've become lucid, it was only for a few moments before consciousness re-synced to the dream environment; I've probably experienced a total of 8 since August - very minor success.
I've been wondering, from noticing the amount of lucid's most of the members here experience - how are you becoming lucid?
More detail:
I haven't read my dreams often, but my dream recall increases every once in a while - sometimes, it decreases significantly, depending on how conscious I am upon awakening - and as to whether I'm motivated enough to log my dream; sometimes I don't log my dreams.
I've recently attempted Autosuggestion but haven't achieved much success - or from what I believe. On the contrary however, Autosuggestion may have triggered lucidity last night from within a dream - it wasn't a reality check, because I had just simply become conscious of the dream spontaneous but had awoken instantaneous.
The only reality checks I've been using are the hand, nose and quantity of fingers per hand; I would check to see if my hand is fine, to see if I could breath through my nose and to see how many fingers I have per hand. I have even drawn a D in pen on the palm of my left hand to induce a reality check; I would check to see if the D has been rubbed out or has been altered into something distinctive to how it was initially; this had triggered lucidity for a split second earlier during this week. I have been checking my hand throughout random intervals throughout the day; mostly throughout a consistent basis of once per 20/30 minutes - in contrast to how it should, it hasn't achieved much success.
