Needs some new reality checks or other ways to attain lucidity

So I've been trying at this for one month and I've been writting down all of my dreams and I'e gotten my dream recall to at least one, if not two or three dreams every night. I've tried various reality checks, such as writting on your hand and checking it every hour, asking myself if I am dreaming etc. I'm almost getting to the point where I ready to give up, are there any tips or reality checks you may be able to help me with?

Relaxing and start using some techniques like MILD, WBTB or DEILD. Are good ones to induce lucidity.

Try poking your finger through your hand, stretching your finger, finger over your nose then try and breathe... ummm.... damn i can't think of any right now, but don't give up!
Seriously, when you do LD for the first time it will be something you will remember for ever, its amazing.
The good thing is, once you do it once, you'll want to do it again, and you will, and you'll just get better and better at it.
      Nothing is perfect.

i poked my finger through my hand one time, it actually hurt, which is weird, i thought you cant feel pain in a dream. pinching my nose and breathing was the one i used mostly, but one time i looked at my hand, i thought i was going to crap myself, but it just looked funny, that was a good one, and ithink i will us e that from now on.

i suppose you could look in a mirror, but to be honest, i dont want to do that any time soon, i dont want to get a massive fright, it would probably turn into a nightmare instead of LD.

I think you can feel pain as a psychological occurence although I never had it by doing that reality check it probably just had to do with you believing placing your finger through your hand must be painful. Alot of sensations exist but in a different form than in real life kind of (much like sound in dreams). Just like you think looking in a mirror could trigger a nightmare (maybe cause you're scared what will show up inside).
This entire reality is SELF REFLECTION. You reflect your essence and project it onto the universe.

Insanity is the mind's only effective defense against reality.
sometimes dreams are so good that it hurts to wake up... .

The finger through hand check screwed me over, but the pinching nose closed one hasn't failed me yet.

that made me think of that scene in poltergeist.

in my first good lucid, I rc'd by seeing if I could turn a tv on with my mind.

RCs aren't necessarily about "doing things." I find that I usually know or think I know I'm dreaming already and then I use the RC to confirm that. The point of being in the habit of reality checking is to get into the mindset of being aware of what's going on around you. Ultimately the question you should be asking yourself is this: Does this make sense?

      Ask yourself questions such as:
      Where am I?
      How did I get here?
      What am I doing?
      Where am I going?
Who are these people? (in reference to people around you)

And so on. If the answers make sense, you're probably still awake. Elements in dreams change so quickly for me that if I had the common sense to actually ask these questions, I'd probably know right away that I was dreaming! When you're not in the habit of doing so, though, it just slips your mind.

Different people take longer to become lucid. My first LD was 3 weeks after coming to DV and my second was a week later. Keep trying and don't give up! It will come!

If you're getting stressed over it, though, take a break. Take a week off from reality checking and whatever else you've been doing (keep writing in your DJ if you enjoy it, though) and then come back to it later with a clearer head. Stress does not help dreaming, so just try to relax and enjoy the experience

Ameithist! You just had to say it!

This is also my way to RC, but I also do the pinch nose. I try using all the RCs I know to give my brain the idea that I really can be dreaming and using many prooves shows that I am not sure to be in the real world, it will than be harder for my subconscious to prove me I'm in the real world during a dream

MILDs are a magic way to induce LDs and especially work well for me at WBTBs.
Just make sure you repeat what you want to do, and it is the very last thing you think of before sleep.
Even if thoughts are flowing in, always be repeating it in your head overpowering other thoughts.
Another very important thing I found out is you need an objective.
If I said "go out and stand on the road", you would go "why?" or "get lost".
But if I said "go out on the road because your baby brother has just crawled over the kerb" you would not hesitate. (example only).
      The point is the purpose.
So instead of repeating like "I will go lucid", try to repeat (for example), "I will RC and go lucid at the beginning of my dreams, and will try to jump and hover".
      This does 2 things:
Firstly, it is specific and secondly that bit longer to remember and keeps your attention on the MILD longer than a short phrase.

Another important thing is to visualise yourself doing these things as you repeat it. Even picture a place where you will start your dream and do what it is you want to achieve.

Wow. Sorta a MILD tut, but is important to do it right, than fluff about.
