      Regaining Lucidity

I began to dream lucidly when i was younger, probably in an attempt to stop nightmares. It worked and I didn't know that it was anything special-until I stopped. Has anyone regained their ability to dream lucidly? Also, has anybody been able to make their dream clearer? In mine, I could never remember to put my glasses on, and saw everything like I would in real life.

How many people are successful at this? The whole concept of lucid dreaming is new to me because I thought that it was what everyone did....

Lucid dreaming is something that takes skill and chance. It will never be gone and it is kind of like riding a bike, but it has more to do with chance.

No offense, but... There are no naturals, it takes focused practice one way or another. If he or anyone for that matter is a natural, he/she should still be able to LD, regardless. Another thing is, it really isn't based that much on chance. Thinking this way, you only lower your chance in the quantity of lucids you recieve.

Now my opinion, ah cha cha! Do it like everyone else, browse and find the technique your interested in, and stick with it. Also remember to keep a journal. :/ I hate journaling, haha.

Well my wife has Lds, but never learnt like us.
She doesn't try to LD but has had several LDs and has had them since childhood.
I think its personal, and if the person is focussed at a young age.

And as nevie said many develop it out of necessity when young to overcome nightmares.
My wife thinks this is how it happened to her. Its about control.

Some think they are a natural, but just don't remember how it started as they developed it at such a young age.

Yes, I agree with this. However at some point, that person put forth the effort to learn to know when dreams occur. Once someone learns to LD, they usually don't 'unlearn' it very easily, unless they have no use for it anymore.

Example... A kid age 14 learns to LD because of nightmares, right? Now this can go 2 ways...

a: His nightmares go away, and he/she no longer has a need for LD'ing anymore. So he/she pays no further attention to it.

      b. His nightmares fade away, but he/she likes lucid dreaming. So continues it, as a normal everynight thing, and they never lose the ability to LD. Through many years of practicing this, it becomes almost impossible to not get an LD.

Of course, there is always an exception to the rule.

So my conclusion is that the OP may have known once how to LD, but had no need for it and the ability faded away.
