      Neither one is better.

What are the criteria you desire for a lucid dreaming induction technique? Only if we know can we tell you which one best suits your needs.

Once you're in a lucid dream, it's a lucid dream, regardless of how you got there.
The terms WILD and DILD refer to how you get to the point of lucid dreaming,
Either via waking (WILD) or already dreaming (DILD)

It seems many people prefer WILDs because they enjoy the experience of falling asleep consciously, it seems more direct to them.
However once you reach the state of Lucid Dreaming, it is no longer a WILD or a DILD, it is a lucid dream.

Here's a silly example of what I am trying to say.
Imagine there are two ways for you to get to work.
      Either cycling, or driving.
The fact is, having cycled or driven to work, will not change your job.
The exact same is true of Lucid Dreaming.
      Lucid Dreaming is the "work/job"
the cycling or driving, is the means to arrive (WILD or DILD).
So which way of arriving is better? well it is a matter of personal taste.

I practise both in order to increase my odds. I used to prefer WILD but currently I'm having more success with DILD from daily reality checking. I'd say it's 50-50. But like spaceexplorer says, once you are lucid it doesn't matter how you became lucid.

WILDs are very cool because of the transition. From SP (which is cool), often to a FA(which is cool), then into a lucid.

But once you're in the lucid experience is pretty much the same.

DILD can also be fun. Especially the buzz you get when you eventually figure out that you're dreaming, detective style.
      Lucid Dreams:-
      MILD/DILD: 79
      WILD: 13
      DEILD:13

We all had to learn somewhere.
Using terms like Noob is pointless and alienates people.

The lucid dreaming community welcomes everyone, experienced or new.
We can all learn from each other and there are no true "experts"
There are people out there who have natural lucid dreams without even knowing what they are called. There are also people who know everything about lucid dreaming, yet struggle to have them despite all thier knowledge.

It is not someones fault if they dont know all the silly acronyms the community makes up, in fact its the fault of the community for not being clearer and being eliteist.

We are all here to share and help each other, its not about being "better" than anyone else.

I'm sure you just said that as an offhand comment, but I really recommend you think before you say things like that DreamChaser. How would you feel trying to learn from a new community if people came in and started flaming you?

This isnt a competition, this is a community of equals, sharing.

It was a joke. "Newbie Zone" is the first heading under the Lucid Dreaming Forum here at DV.

So even the Mods and owners use the term. Oh and when did you become a Mod?

Look at the bold and self-reflect as well. There is blind hypocracy even here.

So if you want to flame me, please PM me in the future. Your insecurities are getting a little out of hand.

To my opinion WILDs (and variants like FILD) are "better".

First reason is that if you master WILD, it gives you more stable results.

Second one is that left hemisphere is more active in WILDs, so you have more clear dream and more control.

I like DILDs over WILDs but WILDs come easier :/ (for me)

DILDs seem to be much more stable
