      WILD all in the breath?

I woke early this morning (5:40) to go to school, but found out it was a snow day. I went back to bed to WILD. 3 times I tried and 3 I failed...

The first attempt came out by accident, euphoria and fear washed over me. I was unprepared and woke up.

The second time I got pass the feeling and started to hear sounds almost like a lawnmower shredding garbage. I woke up.

The thrid time I went a little further and experienced paralysis. Everything was going according to plan until I lost any sense of whether I was breathing or not. I didn't want to wake up suffocating so I payed attention to whether or not my chest was moving. For some reason I panicked and tried to consciously control it but found I had shortness of breath. I woke up.

What did I do wrong? Should I had just taken for granted that I was breathing? How can I be sure whether or not I really am breathing?

That's just your body falling asleep and sleep paralysis kicking in. It's completely normal, you'll be fine. You were so close!

If you're afraid you're not breathing and you're in full sleep paralysis, that could be a sign that you're ready to do the exit. If you open your mouth slightly and take a few slow deep breaths, that is often all it takes to initiate the separation process at your face and you can exit just by pulling away from your body.

Hope this helps a little bit!

You're aware that your body can breath on its own, right?

I had a similar problem last night, I was not daring to breath in deep fearing my moving chest might break the SP (amazing how stupid you can be in the midst of the night). Concentrating on something completely different should help as it does with the swallowing problem some people have.

That's hard to say. Maybe one or two minutes, could be less than 1. It's usually a blend of sounds, like white noise.

Yes. I haven't too much experience with WILDs so I wasn't sure if I had conscious control or not as I lost all feeling. Usually when you're conscious and think about something you have control over it, I was just confused as I didn't know whether or not my body took over during the WILD.
