Question If you get SP does that mean you'll be in a Lucid dream soon?

So i heard that if you lie down like at any time of the day for about 30 minutes and don't move your brain will try and get you to get up. You resist this urge and then 5 mins later you will be in sleep paralysis. Is this true? and does this mean when your in SP you will enter a lucid dream?

If so then i can lucid dream at anytime of day just need to take about 35 mins to do so? i just want to clear this up.

Not necessarily. You can put your body to sleep any time, but you can only lucid dream during REM. That means 4 hours into the night, the early morning, or afternoon naps.

So if i try this before going to bed i probably won't have a lucid dream? Will i have an OBE ? I'm not too sure what those are but will i have one?

And lets just say i did put my body to sleep and kept my mind awake what benefits can i get from that? Just peace and quiet from everything? Will daydreaming/visualizing be much easier?

      Thanks.

These things aren't a strict formula, and I don't think that it would be correct to say that if you simply lay still for 35 minutes you will be in SP. If you are predisposed to experiencing SP, maybe.

From SP, it is possible to enter a lucid dream. This would be a WILD, and make sure that you understand that SP isn't required to WILD. You can completely forget everything you know or think you know about SP and still WILD.

If you do this, you will have a lucid dream... a WILD, which is often inaccurately called an OBE.
You can meditate, or day dream, or you can lucid dream. Of the three, I know which one I'd go with

The few times that I have successfully WILDed, I have completely skipped the Sleep Paralysis stage. I went from being awake, and within 30 seconds, into a Lucid Dream. Sleep Paralysis, when attempting a WILD, is a good indicator however, that your body is relaxed enough to go to the next stage of a WILD. It doesn't mean you WILL, it just means that your one step closer to reaching a Lucid Dream.

Oh ok thanks but one question. This is where i get confused xD .

Shift tells me that if i lie down still you know for a 30-40 mins (or what ever the time is) i can meditate, day dream or LUCID DREAM

Ninja9578 tells me no i have to sleep for 4 hours before attempting.

      So which is which?

They're both right, but at the same time, they're both wrong.

It depends on WHEN you decide to do it. For instance, if you wake up after 8 or 9 hours, and then say, around noon or so, decide to try it, then yeah, you should be able to do it with a little practice, since you can still jump into REM sleep.

However, lets say you've been up all day, and 7pm rolls around, and you decide to try it. Well, that will most likely not work, because your body has to go back through the regular sleep stages to reach REM sleep again. It takes 90 minutes to reach the first cycle of REM sleep. The reason Ninja suggests 4 hours, is because that's when your REM stages will be longer, so you'll be able to hold onto your dream longer.

So yeah, in a sense, they are both right, and they're both wrong. Its all about timing really.

Why would it work with naps? aren't they as short in amount of REM-sleep as the first REM-period of the night?
