      Trouble staying lucid

      I need some advice. Basically, when I first go to sleep I feel that I have the highest chance of naturally becoming lucid (going lucid without thinking about it). I was wondering if anyone had ever stayed in a lucid dream right after going to sleep for the night?


      I will usually feel lucid then will kind of be in a state of newb lucidness where I know I am dreaming but the dream isnt completely happening yet(I can kinda make some images in my head, but cant get into the full dream state) Basically I was wondering if its even possible (since Ive only been asleep for 5-20 minutes) to dream at this time?

      Hi all I can say if I know what state of conciousness it is you are in relating to my own experience is that at that point you act!

      I am always dreaming that I am in my bed and looking at my room,that is when I act! If you are awake nothing will happen,if you are asleep it will!

      Try flying out of bed arms forward and low to the ground,you wont hit anything as you are either dreaming or wide awake.

      If you do fly then you are in control of the dream.

      If you dont then you are not dreaming.

      As you might have heard before, the "WILD" technique (wake-initiated lucid dreaming) concentrates on entering lucid dreams right while falling into sleep. So, yes, it's possible to enter an LD directly after falling asleep (although you can't really refer to this state as "being asleep", because during the LD, you keep parts of your conscious mind awake).

      Your second question doesn't have anything to do with the time you have been sleeping before the LD, I think. Being aware of having a dream, but unable to control it is called "prelucid dream" and always appears if your subconscious isn't "ready" for experiencing an LD. You can try to use your senses in the dream to get more control, for example, try to take a smell at some objects or concentrate on what you can hear in your dream. In some cases, it helps to improve your lucidity and allows you to get more dream control.
