"I know I'm dreaming" - Works fairly well. Short, sweet.
"I'll wake up inside my dreams" - Doesn't work at all. Too long. Too specific.

"I'm dreaming of galaxies" - Works fairly well. Gives me a space related dream ~50% of the time.
"I'm dreaming I'm in a space ship sailing through an asteroid field." - Doesn't work at all.

Using vague expressions works well for me, but once in a great while it backfires... and I have a crappy dream. That's the risk you take when making a wish in four words or less
      Very interesting

I've heard of a phrase like "the next thing I see will be a dream"

      That could work.

Yeah, I've never felt that I had to truly believe any mantras. I always used them just to keep the ideas in my mind.

For example... if you have a mantra about being lucid, and it's on your mind as you're sleeping, it will have an effect whether you believe it or not.
