      Autosuggestion help?

Recently, I've been trying to use autosuggestion to help get me some LDs.

I read that you have to convince yourself of it's truthfulness.

"I will realize I'm dreaming." But while I'm doing this I realize that this isn't what I truly believe.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to do this?

I mean... how do convince myself that it's true when I know it's not.

Maybe I'm not right for this technique but I would like to try it.

      Thanks

I use autosuggestion every night and I've never relied on "believing" in the mantra. I just...say it (and I have had constant success) . Not all of them will work: unfortunately it seems like your current choice isn't fitting well - you've just got to find the one that works for you, and you'll be set.

Experiment with the ones presented by the MILD tutorial. If those don't work, it would be fine for you to alter them or come up with something you are comfortable with on your own.

I think it's important to note that you don't have to necessarily believe it will work, only realize that if you do everything right, it could.

Phrasing seems very important in my case. The shorter and more direct the statement, the better. Also, when I use autosuggestion to influence my coming dreams, being intentionally vague works out better. For example:

"I know I'm dreaming" - Works fairly well. Short, sweet.
"I'll wake up inside my dreams" - Doesn't work at all. Too long. Too specific.

"I'm dreaming of galaxies" - Works fairly well. Gives me a space related dream ~50% of the time.
"I'm dreaming I'm in a space ship sailing through an asteroid field." - Doesn't work at all.

Using vague expressions works well for me, but once in a great while it backfires... and I have a crappy dream. That's the risk you take when making a wish in four words or less
