The grammar nazi inside me is tearing his hair out.
Try and tighten up your grammar a little more, please.

The point of reality checking during the day, is so that the trait will carry over into your dreams.
Such as, if you see something strange, or unusual during the day, you should reality check.
If you see your dream sign, or a commonly recurring figure in your dreams furing the day, you should reality check.

Be sure to double check your reality checks, and soemtiems even backing those up. I've heard of three reality checks failing in a row before the fourth granted her lucidity.

      Good luck~

There are different ways to approach reality checking to get them into your dreams, and the best way to DILD is to combine them all.

Using dreamsigns, you can find things that show up frequently in your dreams, and get yourself into the habit of reality checking whenever you see/think about your dreamsign. You form an automatic association between the DS and the thought, "Am I dreaming? I should reality check." Then in your dream, you'll see your dreamsign and say, "Hm, that's my dreamsign, I should reality check." and suddenly do so and find you're dreaming.

Another way to get reality checks into your dreams is to work on raising your awareness during the day. Always be on the lookout for new things, changing things, dreamlike things, strange coincidences, all of it. Always, always, always consider the possibility that everything around you is a dream, and whenever you feel like that might be the case, reality check. Eventually, in your dreams you will question things more frequently, and then suspect that you are dreaming. You might not even have to RC, you might just realize that the answer to things being strange is that you're dreaming. (this is what I do, this heightened awareness).

Some people like to do RCs over and over and over and over and over again throughout the day, or to do them to things like doors, in the hopes that RCing often will become habitual and that during the dream they'll just end up doing the RC out of the blue and become lucid.

Some people rely on their memory, and tell themselves, "I will remember to reality check next time I ____________." (this would be the MILD technique).

Some people use music or lights or expensive devices to flash or sound while they are asleep. They train themselves to reality check to this cue, and then when it happens at night, if it ends up in their dream, they are reminded to RC. (EILD)

I do this with a program on my computer that beeps every hour. It works better than a watch beeping because I can set the volume so that I hear it while dreaming but it doesn't wake me up. Some say it's not the best method, but hey, it works for me. Maybe you could give it a try
