going to be in a 9 hour car ride.....

I'm going to Florida this weekend, and it is going to be at least 9 hours. I don't really know the people all that well, so I think it will be a good time to focus on lucid dreaming. That means I'll be WILDing, doing hundreds of reality checks, and anything else I can think of. I will also be trying to sleep. So,

      1. What are good methods of falling asleep (I don't think the stop drop and roll method will apply to this) on car rides / attaining lucidity (is it is any different? I mean, this will be napping, not sleeping at night).

      2. What type of WILD should I do? (counting, visualizing, hearing, feeling, ect.)

      3. What other things do you recommend I practice? (it is going to be 9 HOURS!!! that's enough time to write a major symphony piece!! I'm up for anything dream related)

what kind of car is it?

The evening hangs beneath the moon, a silver thread on darkened dune.
With closing eyes and resting head; I know that sleep is coming soon.

Upon my pillow, safe in bed,
A thousand pictures fill my head,

      I cannot sleep , my mids aflight;
and yet my limbs seems made of lead.

I think since you have a lot of time on your hands, that you should do a combination of visualization and counting the breath. Maybe do a deild or mild. Hope you have some good dreams. Wish i had that much time.

really? why? I would think it would be easier, because if I do manage to sleep, I wont be fully unconscious.

I dont know what made him say its impossible, I would view it as an amazing opportunity aswell.

I wouldnt go for a WILD..Because, well, I dont really care for WILDing. I'd just fall asleep a million times, but do dreamchecks like..Every 5 seconds of the ride, and a few of the dreams you have are bound to be lucid. Good luck.

When I sleep in a car, it is always a light and meditative sleep. It sounds like a good opportunity to practice deep relaxation tricks and hang right on the verge of sleep.

He can't WILD. See thread in WILD sub-forum.

But. If you can actually fall asleep in the car instead of the deeply relaxed state like Robot said you might be able too. If you WILD I would try to visualize to take your mind off the car. You could always repeat "I will be aware in my dreams" mindlessly for hours.

Yes, that might work. What visualizations do you suggest, and robot, what relaxation techniques do you suggest?

I don't really know. I can't VILD. My imagination sucks.

But, I found if I walk down a set of stairs, it helps. IE: Imagine the sound of the stairs make. IE: Clinky if it's metal or clunky if it's wood.
