Is smoking or IVing DMT a good way to kick-start the ability to lucid dream?

I can't lucid dream. I've tried and tried. I'm thinking of smoking DMT because numerous people have reported seeing the world in a different view and increasing the reality factor within their lives, therefore increasing their awareness and the ability to lucid dream.

I've never taken a drug in my life, but this is one I am definitely considering. Would anyone else recommend this?

Not with that defeatist attitude you won't. How long have you been trying? It took me at least 4 months since joining the board before I had my first recordable lucid dream. In fact, when I first joined, I wasn't sure whether I dreamed at all, much less lucid.

I definitely wouldn't start with DMT if it was the first "recreational drug" you've wanted to try. DMT, LSD, Salvia, and other powerful psychedelics are not something you'd want to tackle without experience with something milder, like weed. On my list of "the big 5" psychedelics I want to try in my life, DMT the last one I want to do.

It's not a defeatist attitude, but rather a willful attitude. I can't do reality checks every 5 minutes during the day. That would distort my reality, and I have much more important things to focus my mind on.

WILD doesn't work because I can't dedicate the time to it (work, and I only get 5 hours a night).

How can I Lucid dream if I can't spend the time to do it right? My problem is that I have a lot going for me in the real world, and can't waste time trying to have experiences that require distraction from my everyday life.

Well maybe lucid dreaming is not for you then. Wait until your life calmes back down then try it again. I can never lucid dream or keep up with a dream journal during school. I always wait until summer starts then i only need to bother about work.

Edit: Non poster is right on well everything he just said.

I'd be working on getting more sleep every night before even thinking about dreaming.

If you can't do that, then yeah, lucid dreaming might not be for you right now.

i would not reccommend this. yeah, DMT is awesome and i have researched it for years and it is the number 1 drug on my list to take, but if it did help you lucid dream, would you need it everythime you tried it, or just to kick start? i dont think that would work, besides just being the greatest trip in all the land.

unless the elves can tell you the secrets of lucid dreaming while youre tripping, which would be awesome.

With closing eyes and resting head; I know that sleep is coming soon.

Upon my pillow, safe in bed,
A thousand pictures fill my head,

      I cannot sleep , my mids aflight;
and yet my limbs seems made of lead.

Well, for one, WILDing is, in my opinion, not good for beginners at all. And what do you mean "distort your reality" exactly? No one has said every 5 minutes. Just every time something just feels out of the ordinary.

Also, (again, my opinion) a good way to kickstart it instead of going to drugs (because I'm not going to condone drug use) is to fit an LD routine into your schedule. It may seem hard, but the goal is to make it a habit so that it doesn't seem like it's a chore. If you can't do that, then like the other members have said, Lucid Dreaming really isn't for you right now, and you'd be better off waiting until things have calmed down on your end.

dmt is some pretty hardcore stuff...i don't think i would recommend it to anyone period, let alone someone who has never experimented with anything. if you're worried about reality checks distorting your reality, dmt is certainly not for you. i don't think there's a more potent hallucinogen (don't know if that's spelled correctly) out there. Just leave it alone

I wouldn't really recommend doing something like that; the basics are WAY easy....not to mention safer.

Ya, nobody said you have to RC every 5 minutes. I do them a couple of times a day, only when I remember. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into if you've never tried a drug and you think one of the strongest psychedelics available (not including RCs) would be good just to help you get into dreaming you're sadly mistaken. Going from no experience with an altered state (as far as drugs go) to a full-blown trip to hyperspace probably wouldn't go over very well, especially with a stressed out lifestyle. Try using affirmations/MILD techniques to induce one and just stick with it.

I personally don't think it would be worth using drugs over.

wow...not to sound like an ass or anything..but someone who is willing to TRY drugs to induce Lucid Dreams, is just straight up desperate.. if it means that much to you to Lucid Dream then maybe it really isn't for you.. All Lucid Dreaming takes is 3 things...

      1.) Dream Journal
      2.) Reality Checks
      3.) Sleep

you really don't need anything else

I am not directing it toward you as a person, but i just feel strongly about it because i use to be a drug addict for 5 years.. I am clean now, but you do not want to go down that road, you may intend doing drugs for a purpose of LDing, but it could turn to something worse... please.. just do it naturally...

      thank you

I heard its great for LDing, and I definitely want to try it someday, bt I would say, especially with your drug experiences (or lack there of) DMT is definitely not where you want to start. Smoking weed your first time can sometimes change the way you think about stuff (which isn't a bad thing) but DMT will shatter your reality into peices and without experience, it may be hard for you to repeice it all back together.

Don't worry. Even having the desire to have an LD will eventually get you one someday. Just give it time. Like the two posters above me.... patience is the answer
