SP while driving bus, but never at home!

I have a problem and dont know how to solve that.

I drive home from work with the bus every day. And every day I fall asleep during the drive (always listening to music).
I dont fall asleep completely but experience SP every day. I get hallucinations, wake up every few minutes or seconds and then get hallucinations again when falling asleep.
So Iīm in a state of SP about an hour before I arrive at home. I cant WILD, because the movements of the drive wake me up every time the hallucinations (or dream) starts to get clearer.

Of course I wanted to use that. My walk home is less than 5 minutes, so sometimes when the SP was extreme and I had a lot of vivid hallucinations I come home and immediately go to bed, trying to WILD.
Unfortunately it NEVER works at home! I thought itīs maybe because of the music, so I tried that, but with no success either.

Whatīs the difference of sitting in a bus or lying in bed? I dont know why I have SP experiences every day in the bus but not at home.
Anyone knows the reason for this?

well we humans are conditioned all our life to sleep in beds. we associate SLEEP with BED and that's why many people (me included) have a special place for projecting/wilding.

It seems to me your body has probably conditioned it's self to going int SP in bus. It could have to do with the music, sitting up, or the humming of the bus etc. so maybe at home--try and re-create the experience some-what and you might have more luck.

It is possible to do in bed but a lot harder for me cause i fall asleep a lot and sometimes I just can't get into the trance, whereas on my couch i have much better luck.

      Ditto.

Also the moment may be causing it also...Get a rocking chair or something that you can set up in and move a little (rock like a bus) and fall asleep on while still being at your house.

Also street lights and the small things like that often drive me to sleep while sitting in a car or bus.

haha, no, Iīm not driving the bus, english isnt my first language, so I make such mistakes sometimes
and by the way: Iīm a girl

normally I fall asleep extremely fast at home. Often it doesnt even take me a minute and I sleep (which sucks because I wished I could me up a bit longer). So I usually never experience SP, except I was up for a very long time and Iīm already half asleep when going to bed anyway.

Sometimes itīs even a bit embarrassing in the bus. It happened a few times that I had this "falling" feeling and suddenly startled up.

Anyway, maybe Iīm gonna sit down the next time when I try to WILD. maybe thatīs the small difference that keeps me from having SP at home.

I hate that. I done that like three times at school last year while sleeping on my desk. It feel good somewhat but you can't help but startle a little.

I always startle up when I have this falling feeling and I´m trying to get rid of that. That´s why I´m even trying to get SP at home so badly.

Tried WILD last night, but didnt work. I think music is an important thing for me, because (as mentioned earlier) I fall asleep so quickly. now I need to convince my boyfriend to listen to music in the middle of the night :/
he already wasnt happy when I started with this "alarm clock thing after a few hours of sleep".
I guess I should convince him about LD in general. I bet learning it together is even easier.

You really should bring him into it. You can basically become a god in dreams so it not like he won't enjoy it. Instead of waking him up for no reason, you two could be waking up for the common goal. Show him this forum and go to the dream journal and just search for lucid dreams and how people have so much fun while sleeping.

I tried to get him into lucid dreams so often before! he´s not really against it (he also thinks Lucid dreaming is amazing), but he always says he doesnt have the time to put so much effort into this. I can totally understand that since he´s a workaholic.
He´s already making jokes about me talking about lucid dreaming all the time. He said he probably wont need to do any work for it, because I remind him constantly about Ld.
I do it since 2 years now (sometimes more, sometimes less), but he never had a lucid dream. I´m sure if he had one once he would put some energy into this instead of his work.
But I dont want to force him, of course it´s up to him. it´s just too bad that I feel so horrible when I put on the alarm clock in the middle of the night or annoy him with reality checks.

But at least he´s not trying to get me away from it. If anything he supports me wherever he can and I´m really thankful about that.

I've had a similar situation. I can really only take naps while riding in a car, or else I'll feel horrible when I wake up. During these naps I experience so much more hypnagogic imagery than I do while sleeping in my bed. I think it involves the constant motion as well as the fact you are sitting up.

It happened a few times that I had this "falling" feeling and suddenly startled up.
This is known as a hypnic jerk. I've had some pretty funny experiences with those, myself.

Sound like a nice guy. He should have one by now if you always working around him. Dose he recall his dreams? If not then that could be the reason as lucid dreams are pretty useless without recall. I highly doubt he will start a dream journal but it nice of him to support you like that.

Ah, I knew there is a word for this, but I didnt know it. Thanks!
I wished I could keep myself from startling up (at home of course) and completely give in to this feeling, but it didnt work that well so far.

      @Zelkova:
I think this is indeed his problem, because he doesnt remember dreams very well. itīs so sad heīs not trying LD. I get out of bed 2 hours earlier than him every day, so it is his perfect chance to WILD. I already told him Iīm jealous of that, but well, what can he do

Probably, It's the vibrations of the engine. When the bus is running at it's normal speed, the engine vibrations could be just right for putting you into a hypnogogic state. If you could figure out the frequency of the vibrations, maybe you could recreate it at home?

Maybe I can sit on the washing machine

Tomorrow I dont have work, so I´m gonna try WILD again in the morning. I´m always so excited because I hope it could work. Wish me luck

had no success at all during the weekend
I was so optimistic, because I hadnt slept in 37 hours and then went to bed, every thought on lucid dreaming, trying WILD. But nothing. Today was the first day I seriously was close to tears because I´m so frustrated

I dont want to get frustrated, cause I know I probably wont be able to LD at all then!
But I give my best every damn day.

well, at least one positive thing I experienced today. I´m sick, so I stayed home from work. And while I was sitting in my bed with the laptop in front of me (playing some game) I became tired and closed my eyes and got vivid visual hallucinations and a few signs of SP. It was probably the upright position and the sounds of the game, just like in a bus
Unfortunately I had to kick myself out when I was close to fall asleep, because I had to go to the doctor :/ I hated it so much in that moment because this might could have been a new success for me!

So, have you LD'd before? Are you sure WILD is the best way to go? Have you tried WBTB or DILD? Sometimes, a method just doesn't work, and sometimes, you just need to take a break from a method and try something else.

God I tried so much during the last 2 years. I was focusing on DILD for 1 1/2 years because I always read its the easiest way.
But then I had my first lucid dream after waking up in the middle of the night and trying to WILD when going back to bed - which worked!

all in all I had 3 lucid dreams suring the last few month, all of them were WILDs, so I thought I should focus on this method more and give up the DILD (I´m still doing reality checks though, so I´m trying both methods).

Maybe I should take a break from everything. I had a break of 2 weeks before I had my first LD. It was only the first day I did intensive reality checks and thinking about LD again and in that night it worked.
But I dont really want to take a break, I´m still too motivated (at least right now again).

But learning to lucid dreaming is the hardest thing I´ve ever done in life so far :/
