Can't enter SP - Mind too sensitive?

Hi, long time lurker here so apologies if I'm posting a completely newbish or overused question.

Over the last week or so I've attempted a few WILD's, and I manage to get to the stage where I start to get common LD symptoms (vivid imagery, pulsing feeling, feeling of falling, quiet sounds etc), but no matter how long I lay there I just can't get to that feeling of entering or knowing I'm about to enter an LD, which is annoying as I'm generally a very light sleeper.

This might be because my senses are still too sensitive, as when I'm going through these stages I can still here the quiet whistling of my nose and feel the bedsheets still covering me, and when I'm able to immerse myself in the experience, nothing happens which eventually leads my mind to still feeling that physical presence.

I've had a look around and nothing seems to offer a complete solution to me, so sorry if there's one available, a quick pointer in the right direction would be all I'd need, thanks!

I'm pretty much a noob, too, so I can't really offer any advise, but I have the same problem lately. I was just thinking today that maybe I need to meditate or do more relaxation techniques before I actually settle down to do the WILD, if that makes sense. I was thinking of meditating a little while before I go to bed and then expand my relaxation routine and see if it makes any difference. I feel like I really need to separate my day from doing a WILD, so that there's nothing knocking around in my brain because I feel like, even if I'm not consciously thinking about anything, it's still there some place and keeping me in the "real" world instead of the dream world!

I think the key during WILD and other techniques is to find a mental state that is comfortable and won't disturb the sleeping progress, but that is easier said than done.
