      Play dead

The technique I use to achieve lucids most often. I havent done any searching to see whether this has been mentioned often or before so forgive me if this is old news.

Oftentimes I realize that I am dreaming right as the dream begins to fade and I am being pulled out of it and back into my body in bed consciousness. At this moment, instead of waking up just play dead and wait patiently to be sucked back into dream consciousness, it is much easier than you think.

So when you know you are about to wake up DONT. As the dream fades play dead and wait patiently, it is very easy to get sucked back into dream consciousness.

When I get sucked out everything swirls into blackness and then I can vaguely begin to feel my own body in bed. I just wait and then I begin to see dream pictures but I am still in my own body. Then the pictures begin to envelope me and the last stage I move into the dream body and can start moving through the world again.

This will only work if you realize you are dreaming right before you wake up though, right? It sounds interesting though.

My Dream Exit Initiated Lucids are never very satisfying. They normally only last a few seconds before I wake up again. It is cool when you can chain together 10 or 15 of these short lucid dreams.

Do you find yours are short, also?

Another problem I have with this is forgetting my dreams. If I don't immediately start writing down my dream, it fades quickly. I've forgotten a lot of great dreams by trying to reenter them.

10-15? The most I ever managed to chain were 2, they lasted around 10 min.

This is how I get most of my lucid dreams

And my DEILDs are usually more vivid than my DILDs
Especially when they start with a false awakening
      It was familiar to me
The smoke too thick to breathe
      The tile floors glistened
      I slowly stirred my drink

I had a Play Dead - ILD topic here quite some time ago. Too bad people never read and instead post a million new double topics.

      Here it is: http://dreamviews.com/community/show...t=playing+dead

Funny huh? You present an ILD-idea you made up to people and it becomes forgotten and then, months later, someone else runs with it. Pretty much exactly the same method and EXACTLY the same name too. Next time be creative and use your OWN imagination.

Um your play dead technique is different than the original poster of this thread.

He is simply talking about DEILDs.

You were talking about letting yourself fall asleep when you first go to sleep and regaining focus when something seems strange in your dream.

Your techniques are the same only nominally.
